Position overview
To support Orakl Oncology’s growth, we are looking for a Head of People to build and lead our People strategy as we scale from a tight, high-performing team into a larger organisation — without compromising our mission, culture, or pace.

The Head of People will help us attract exceptional profiles, create an environment where they can do their best work, and ensure our people practices are robust, compliant, and ready for the next stage.
You will report to the Chief of Operations and co-founder and partner closely with the founders and leaders across science, product/engineering, business, and finance. This role blends strategic leadership (organisation design, culture, performance, compensation) with hands-on execution (processes, policies, tools) in a fast-moving, mission-driven startup.
Key responsibilities
Own People strategy and organisation design: translate business and mission needs into a clear people roadmap (hiring plan for both the people team and company wide hires, org structure, leadership development, performance philosophy, compensation and levelling), and advise leadership through key growth decisions.
Build a world-class talent function: define the hiring approach, candidate experience, and selection standards, and partner with hiring managers and recruiters to consistently attract and close top talent in AI, biology, and operations.
Lead performance, development, and engagement: implement scalable performance management, feedback rituals, career frameworks, and manager enablement so teams grow with clarity, trust, and accountability.
Run core People operations and compliance: own the employee lifecycle (onboarding to offboarding), policies, and documentation; ensure compliance with French labour law; coordinate payroll and benefits with external partners; and manage employee relations with sound judgement.
Shape culture and internal communication: be the steward of Orakl’s culture, values, and ways of working; design rituals and communication practices that keep teams aligned and connected as we grow.
Build systems, metrics, and tooling: implement the right lightweight tools and dashboards (people metrics, hiring funnel, retention, engagement) to support data-informed decisions and operational excellence.
7+ years of progressive experience in People / HR (People, HRBP, Talent, or Generalist), including experience as a senior partner to leadership in a high-growth startup or scale-up.
Strong working knowledge of French employment law, policy development, and employee relations.
Demonstrated ability to build and scale People processes end-to-end (hiring, onboarding, performance, compensation, development, engagement) - from ~50 to 200 employees. This includes building and developing People teams aligned to the needs of a scaling business.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence decisions and coach leaders.
A practical, hands-on approach and strong operational discipline, paired with a genuine people-first mindset.
Comfort with data and tooling (ATS, HRIS, Notion) and building simple automations.
Fluency in English and French.
Preferred qualifications
Experience supporting technical or scientific teams (AI/engineering, life sciences, biotech/techbio).
Experience preparing or scaling through Series A/B stages.
HR Call (15 minutes call) – An initial discussion to better understand your background, experiences, and motivations.
Technical Interview (45 minutes call) – A deep dive into your technical skills and expertise relevant to the role.
Technical Case (30 minutes presentation + discussion) - A case study or problem-solving exercise to assess your strategic thinking and analytical abilities. If possible this can be done in person.
Founder Interview: As final step of our recruitment process, you will meet the founders of Orakl Oncology in person at our office. This meeting is an opportunity for the founders to assess cultural fit and ensure alignment with our company values.
