Role Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Strategic Operations & Corporate Development Associate to support our initiatives in the CEO office, reporting to Mistral's Chief of Staff. This role is pivotal in advancing our M&A activities, project managing key processes, and helping structure nascent ops teams.
You will be responsible for sourcing and instructing acquisitions, coordinating quarterly goal-setting, helping set up new business ventures, and improving internal analytics related to data and AI. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong project management skills in central coordination across various functions, as well as M&A experience.
The Strategic Operations & Corporate Development Associate will play a crucial role in Mistral AI’s scale, ensuring our strategic initiatives are effectively executed and aligned with our company's vision, mission, and values.
Responsibilities
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) (80%):
• Support our leadership team and founders in building our acquisition strategy (verticalization, prioritization)
• Build our M&A targeting, sourcing, screening and acquisition playbooks (methodologies, processes)
• Implement or build necessary tools to support this playbook
• Source and evaluate potential acquisition targets with key internal stakeholders
• Conduct due diligence and financial analysis to support M&A decisions
• Run products tests and deep GTM analysis
• Coordinate with internal and external teams to facilitate smooth acquisition and integration processes
Project Management (20%):
• Help run key processes that require central coordination, including quarterly goal-setting and new business set-up, at the crossroads of Product Management, Engineering, Finance and GTM teams.
• Help scope and kick-off the execution of key initiatives and ventures (analytics implementation, KPIs definition, operating model definition, etc)
• Ensure timely and effective project delivery through meticulous planning and coordination.
About You
• You have a Master’s degree in Engineering from a tier-1 school
• You have ideally a Master’s degree in Finance or related fields in top business schools
• At least 4 years of experience in M&A, Venture Capital or a related field, with a focus on technology, AI, or a related industry.
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful M&A deals.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to craft strategic recommendations based on data insights.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong business acumen, with the ability to see the big picture and understand how different elements of a business / market / industry interact and influence each other
• Strong Tech savviness, with the ability to understand Engineering matters (roles, jobs, ecosystems, organisations, tech stacks, etc)
• A self-starter who is result-oriented, resourceful, innovative, autonomous, intellectually curious, and who takes initiative and risks.
