Kiln is seeking a Head of Compliance to spearhead our compliance department. This role is instrumental in guiding Kiln through the evolving regulatory landscape of blockchain and digital assets. The successful candidate will lead the compliance strategy, ensuring Kiln's operations adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

• Strategic Leadership: Developing and executing Kiln's compliance strategy to navigate the complexities of blockchain technology and digital asset regulations. Ensuring that our operations are within risk appetite and tolerance levels, while also maintaining a competitive edge in the industry.

• Regulatory Framework and Compliance Program: Crafting and overseeing a comprehensive compliance program that meets regulatory requirements relevant to blockchain and digital assets. This includes staying abreast of new regulations, implementing necessary changes, and ensuring company-wide adherence.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with various departments including, Legal, Product, and Finance to ensure a unified approach to compliance and risk management. Serving as the primary point of contact for compliance matters, facilitating effective communication and coordination across teams.

• Regulatory Engagement and Reporting: Acting as Kiln's liaison with regulatory bodies, managing submissions, licenses, and responses to regulatory inquiries. Maintaining open channels of communication with regulators.

• Policy Development and Enforcement: Creating compliance policies and procedures to reflect the current regulatory environment and best practices. Enforcing these policies across the company and ensuring that all employees are educated on compliance matters.

• AML and Financial Crime Prevention: Overseeing the company's efforts to combat money laundering and financial crimes. This includes monitoring transactions, analyzing trends, and ensuring robust systems are in place for identifying and reporting suspicious activities.

• Oversight and Reporting: Providing oversight of compliance processes and systems, ensuring they are effective and efficient. Regularly reporting on compliance metrics, risks, and the status of compliance initiatives to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

What You'll Work On:

• Leading the formulation, design, and implementation of Kiln's compliance framework.

• Ensuring the compliance program evolves with the industry's best practices and regulatory requirements, particularly in the areas of AML-CFT 

• Developing and maintaining a culture of compliance throughout the organization, including training and awareness programs for employees.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of compliance experience, incl. 3+ years of experience in a decision-making compliance function, e.g. Head of Compliance, MLRO or similar; alternatively, experienced compliance consultant (independent or compliance practice).

• Deep understanding of blockchain technology, digital assets, and the regulatory environment surrounding them.

• Proven experience in compliance, risk management, or legal roles within the fintech, blockchain, or digital assets industries.

• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to develop and lead a team, and influence cross-functional initiatives.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory concepts to a variety of stakeholders.

• Strategic thinker with a focus on outcomes and the ability to navigate through ambiguity and change.
