Descripción del puesto

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Legal Counsel to assist on some of the hottest co-investments deals on the venture capital market (throughout the world) and to be responsible to make those deals happen from a legal point of view. You will also support the Company in its expansion as an AIFM (EuVECA Manager).

Given the broad variety of responsibilities and the emphasis Roundtable places on the legal dimensions, you will become a legal professional blending the versatility of an in-house counsel with the expertise of a lawyer!

Your responsibilities as Junior Legal Counsel:

  • Daily, you will interact with various fields of law and will become an expert at managing the balance between corporate, tax and regulatory considerations, always keeping an holistic view:

    • Corporate: You will be faced, daily, with a wide array of corporate questions relating to the structuring and management of the co-investment vehicles, both in France and in Luxembourg. You will be exposed to several legal systems and will need to understand their corporate intricacies.

    • Tax: With several types of investment vehicles and investors coming from all places, you will become an expert at managing the ever-changing fiscal rules (in Luxembourg and France mainly).

    • Regulatory : As Roundtable operates in a regulated environment, you will be faced with questions arising out of MIFID, AIFMD, the Prospectus Regulation and so on.

  • Ensure a continuous legal watch to identify opportunities for innovation and ensure we are always at the edge of what is feasible.

  • Support and shape our lobbying actions: be an actor of the change and feed our learnings and suggestions back to lawmakers.

  • Work closely with product and operations teams to define, automate and improve our legal processes.

  • Assist on day-to-day legal topics of the company (e.g., Compliance, Corporate, IP, Tax).

  • Manage, interact with and coordinate high-caliber stakeholders - you will interact with top European Venture capital Partners, investors and lawyers working at reputable law firms

  • Grow with the Roundtable legal team.

As an early employee and all along the life of the company your role will be at the center of Roundtable’s strategy.

The legal team is headed by Nicolas, Head of Legal. Prior to joining Roundtable in September 2022 (as #3 employee), Nicolas worked at Linklaters LLP as a litigator. As Roundtable’s Head of Legal, Nicolas crafts legal solutions striking the right balance between legal, regulatory and fiscal considerations.

As Junior Legal Counsel, you will closely collaborate Nicolas, with Julien (Co-Founder and CPO), Thibaud (Operations specialist) and Zaineb (Operations manager) for all implications on ongoing operations. As a very lean and horizontal structure, you will have daily interactions with the whole team.

Main Challenges :

The main challenges you will be confronted to are:

  • Striking the right balance between constantly being extremely rigorous while bringing pragmatic solutions to the table.

  • Multidimensional and complex constraints (Regulatory, Tax, Corporate).

  • Navigating multi-local and non-harmonized regulatory, tax, and corporate frameworks across Europe.

Benefits

  • Challenging work experience building and owning an ambitious product.

  • Quality-driven environment.

  • Awesome colleagues with high ambitions.

  • Offices located in the heart of Paris + remote-friendly environment. Frequent meetings with the team located in Paris.

  • Competitive compensation (including employee stock options plan).

Requisitos

About you

  • You have a master degree in law obtained in a European university.

  • You have a first successful experience as intern in a law firm or in the legal department of a company and up to two years of professional experience in this environment.

  • Your specialization does not matter, but your willingness to deep dive outside of your field of expertise will be crucial for your success at Roundtable

  • You are fluent in English, and if you are a native French speaker, that is a plus!

  • You are solution-oriented and proactive (not only within your legal expertise).

  • You demonstrate extreme rigor and integrity.

  • You master legal research.

  • You have a strong interest in the business and you are able to work in a team (including non legal colleagues).

Proceso de selección

Roundtable is committed to creating a diverse environment. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment irrespective of gender, origin, identity, background and orientation.

We are aware there’s a long way to go with regard to diversity in our industry, which is why we encourage all applicants- and especially those listed above- to apply to our open positions.
