Jus Mundi is looking for an Engineering Manager (AI) who is both a strong technical leader and a hands on AI builder. This is not a generic EM role. We need someone with real experience building and shipping AI systems using LLMs, RAG, agents, and GPU based training.
Jus Mundi is looking for an Engineering Manager (AI) to lead and grow one of our AI engineering squads while remaining a strong technical contributor. You will manage a squad focused on AI powered data collection, model training and fine-tuning, agent development, retrieval, and more. You will help other squads reliably access our data through our back office, APIs, and search engines and also directly contribute to the design and delivery of our AI models, pipelines, and agentic systems.
Your work will shape the AI technical strategy at Jus Mundi and push the boundaries of what is possible in legal research through GenAI.
You’ll be part of our Product & Engineering team, dedicated to building and scaling our customer facing products and internal tools. Our team is known for its collaboration, ownership, and product-minded approach, and you’ll work closely with talented engineers, designers, product managers, and stakeholders across the company to deliver meaningful impact.
In this role, you will:
Lead and mentor an AI engineering squad with a culture of ownership, speed, and quality.
Define and execute the squad roadmap in partnership with product, including engineering OKRs, DORA metrics, and service SLOs.
Coach engineers, run performance reviews, and ensure continuous improvement.
Own code quality, testing, observability, and incident response.
Collaborate with the CTO and Talent team on hiring plans and act as hiring manager for your squad.
Drive high security standards and ensure your team keeps customer data safe.
Improve delivery workflows through CI, CD, automation, and solid engineering practices.
Contribute hands on to AI system design. This includes retrieval pipelines, model training, agent workflows, inference optimisation, and evaluation.
Lead strategic initiatives that strengthen our AI capabilities and engineering excellence.
Must-have:
Leadership and ownership
10+ years total experience in engineering with 4+ years in technical leadership and people management.
Proven experience leading AI engineering teams or squads.
AI product delivery
Shipped at least one production LLM powered feature or agent used by real users.
Experience designing and operating RAG systems: embeddings, chunking, retrieval, hybrid search, metadata filters, reranking.
Deep experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Qdrant, Weaviate, Elastic, or pgvector.
Model training and fine tuning
Hands on experience fine tuning or training models, including:
Language Models
Embedding Models
Other Deep Neural Networks
Familiarity with LoRA, PEFT, SFT, DPO, RLHF or similar approaches.
Experience creating datasets and evaluation pipelines for training.
GPU and infrastructure
Real experience running GPU based training or inference at scale.
Familiarity with distributed or multi-GPU training techniques.
Experience with GPU cluster management, optimisation, quantization, batching, caching, and cost control.
Agentic systems
Familiarity with agent workflows: tool calling, planners, multi step tasks.
Experience with frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex or custom orchestration.
Engineering fundamentals
Strong software engineering background.
Ability to define architecture, champion secure design, and align engineering work with product and business needs.
Bonus:
Experience with performance optimisation for AI workloads.
Knowledge of compliance or data governance.
Experience in startup or scale up environments.
Public speaking or knowledge sharing experience.
Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, Neo4J, Docker, GitLab, CI and CD, Terraform, and modern DevOps practices.
