YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

The headquarters of the AXA Group (GIE AXA) brings together our corporate activities. It provides guidance and support to subsidiaries around the world, to ensure the coordination and monitoring of the Group's global strategy, the application of its standards, the consistency of commercial approaches and the sharing of best practices. The headquarters gathers approximately 1000 employees and is distinguished by its strong international culture (45 nationalities), which makes it a rich and stimulating place to work.

 

Within the Group, you will join the AXA Group Ceded Re department.

The Group Ceded Reinsurance department has the following missions:

  1. Define and implement the AXA Group's reinsurance strategy.
  2. Protect the earnings and balance sheets of the Group and its subsidiaries.
  3. Analyze risks of hedged portfolios to determine appropriate reinsurance structures and leverage mutualization at the Group level.
  4. Implement solutions that optimize the Group's internal capacities and facilitate risk transfers to external markets.
  5. Ensure the security and efficiency of reinsurance operations for the Group and its subsidiaries.

 

 

Within this Department, you will be part of the Markets Team, responsible for the design, structuring, placement and management of the reinsurance programs of all AXA General Insurance (GI) entities of your Region, for all lines of business, both in P&C and in Life & Health.

 

You will work closely with AXA GI’s local teams (reinsurance, risk management, underwriting, finance, legal, actuarial, …), with the AXA Region linked to your territories, and with the relevant Group Teams, including but not limited to GRM, GUO, GPM, and with AXA Group’s Senior Management in order to ensure that the reinsurance programs for each entity are appropriate, compliant, and coherent with the relevant Group and local risk appetite and underwriting requirements. 

 

 

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES:

 

 

  • Drive, in collaboration with the relevant local entity and/or the AXA Region linked to your territories, the design, structuring, and decision-making process on reinsurance structures for each entity of your Region.
  • Ensure and implement if needed, the relevant governance process around reinsurance with the local entities
  • Lead the placement (internal and external) of all entities’ reinsurance programs in your Region.
  • Ensure that the reinsurance market dynamics, view, and requirements are understood by entities of the Region at all times of the annual cycle.
  • Engage regularly with top management and any other relevant stakeholders in the entities of your Region (risk management, underwriting, finance, strategy) in order to ensure that the reinsurance programs respond to the entity objectives, as well as to secure buy-in and ensure understanding of the programs.
  • Build strong relationships with all entities of your Region in order to support their business objectives, but also to advise, challenge, and influence them on complex topics related to their reinsurance programs.
  • Build strong relationships with the reinsurance market of your Region (reinsurers, brokers, external investors if needed) and represent AXA entities of your Region in front of the market in order to provide the best view of the entities’ business, needs, and underwriting practices, and secure best terms possible.
  • Participate in key, difficult reinsurance price and treaty negotiations in order to secure competitive terms and the level of placement necessary.
  • Ensure treaties reflect negotiated, market-leading terms, comprehensive coverage, and ensure that they are negotiated and executed before the treaty inception date.
  • Liaise and collaborate with all internal Group Ceded Re teams (Underwriting, Operations, Claims, Finance, …) in order to optimize the ceded margin of the AXA Group, drive innovation and continuous improvement in placement processes and approach, but also in treaty admin and management.
  • Ensure that reinsurance placement and its outcomes remain compliant and adhere to any AXA Group process, reporting, and operational requirements.
  • Support the Head of Markets to liaise, collaborate, educate, and influence AXA Group stakeholders (GUO, GRM, Group Finance, Group Performance Management, …) on all reinsurance topics in order to ensure that the reinsurance structures are understood, compliant and relevant.
  • Support the Head of Markets in his role of representing Group Ceded Re in all key governance bodies at AXA Group and the AXA GIs, and in front of regulatory authorities as necessary.
  • Manage and develop a Regional Team composed of client executives.
  • Set the Regional Team objectives, structure, and organization in order to align to Markets Team’s and Group Ceded Re’s objectives and ensure maximum cedant satisfaction.

 

YOUR PROFILE

 

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Proven Reinsurance experience is essential for this role and previous experience of Ceded Reinsurance is highly beneficial.
  • Able to demonstrate strong data and analytical skills and the ability to manage large submission data sets.
  • Strong understanding of insurance and reinsurance techniques, products and markets, actuarial & risk assessment, as well as financial techniques.
  • Previous management experience or willingness to manage a team of 4 to 6 people (junior & senior client executives)
  • Capable of embodying the AXA Leadership framework in everyday activities (dare, navigate, energize, deliver)
  • Strong communication & presentation skills
  • Fluent in English and French. Any other additional languages are beneficial.
