As Head of Data, you will own the end-to-end data strategy at Ankorstore: from infrastructure to insights, from experimentation to embedded intelligence.

Your mission is to turn data into a competitive advantage by enabling every team to make better decisions, and by creating product-grade AI & data features that power our platform and user experience.

You will lead a cross-functional team of analysts, engineers and scientists and work closely with Product, Tech, Business and Finance stakeholders. Within an hybrid data organization that powers both internal decision-making and end-user features through APIs, automation, and personalized experiences.

Main responsibilities

1. Data Vision & Governance

• Define and communicate a clear data vision aligned with Ankorstore’s Product and Business OS strategy.

• Own data architecture, accessibility, quality, and governance across the organization.

• Standardize KPIs, definitions, and data models to align all teams on a single source of truth.

• Promote self-service tools and enablement, making every team data-driven and autonomous.

2. Data Insights & Platform

• Operate and scale our modern data stack (BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Terraform) with high reliability and performance.

• Own shared metrics, data models and self-serve tools to align teams and enable autonomy.

• Deliver high-quality dashboards, deep dives and experimentation frameworks across Product, Finance, Sales, Ops, and Marketing.

• Act as a strategic partner to business teams: turn questions into insights, and insights into action.

• Balance short-term stakeholder needs with long-term platform health and governance..

3. AI-Powered Product Capabilities

• Lead the delivery of core product features powered by data: Search, Recommendations, Personalization.

• Oversee engineering and data science teams building AI/ML-based APIs using Go (Yokai), Elasticsearch, and Python models.

• Ensure end-to-end ownership: model quality, API performance, observability, and impact on the user experience.

4. Leadership & Team Culture

• Hire, mentor, and grow a hybrid team of Data Engineers, Analysts, and Scientists.

• Create a culture of impact, autonomy, and technical excellence.

• Act as a key cross-functional leader, ensuring clarity and collaboration across Product, Tech, and Business teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data, including 3+ years leading cross-functional data teams (analytics, engineering, science).

• Proven experience owning company-wide data architecture, KPIs, and platform infrastructure at scale.

• Experience building or scaling data platforms for self-serve analytics and embedded AI products

• Strong business acumen with ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

• Ability to connect long-term company vision with data architecture, roadmap, and team structure.

• Hands-on experience with modern data stacks (BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Terraform) and cloud platforms (GCP or equivalent).

• Comfort navigating data pipelines, modeling, and AI delivery — even if not hands-on daily. Ability of asking the right technical questions and challenging assumptions

• Experience delivering ML/AI features in production: Search, Recommender Systems, or Personalization.

• Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal); ability to align stakeholders across Product, Tech, and Business.
