The position

Job description

Swan is looking for a Technical Writer Intern or apprentice to join our Operations team.

Operations are a key pillar to Swan’s success. Our mission is to provide a flawless end-to-end customer experience, and you can help make sure everyone knows how.

Your mission

Assist the Operations teams in creating quality, accessible eLearning experiences to onboard new team members faster and provide better support to our partners

Main Tasks

  • Handle incoming eLearning requests from the Operations team, primarily through Linear and Slack.

  • Craft eLearning courses in partnership with the Documentation team to optimize learning. You’ll work in close collaboration with key stakeholders (KYC, Support, CSM, TAM), to draft content, link to existing documentation, and carefully write and implement assessments.

  • Receive and apply feedback from the Documentation team speedily and with a positive attitude, and follow the Swan style guide to ensure consistency across content.

  • Maintain existing eLearning courses in collaboration with internal stakeholders, making sure Swanees and partners have the most up-to-date information in their courses.

Your team

You’ll join the Documentation team, housed in Operations. Our mission is to provide best-in-class content for all of our users. We also oversee Localization for Swan, in collaboration with Marketing, Compliance, Product, and different teams within Operations (Support, Know Your Customer [KYC], Technical Accounts Managers [TAM], and Customer Success Managers [CSM]).

You’ll report to our Lead Technical Writer, Coley, and work closely with our Technical Writer for Operations, Ntombi.

Preferred experience

You’re a great match if:

  • You’re a current or recently-graduated student from a masters program focused on educational technology or technical communication.

  • You’re passionate about creating clear content, especially for adult learners. You have a high level of English, especially written, and you take pride in the clarity of your writing.

  • You’re determined to grow in your field, soak up knowledge, and constantly improve.

  • You’re a self-starter (your manager is remote) but you don’t hesitate to ask all the questions.

  • Our ideal teammate: Empathetic. Skilled. Frank. We love to challenge each other, and we leave our egos at the door.

It’s okay if you don’t tick all the boxes — don’t let imposter syndrome prevent you from applying! 🙌

Swan is committed to providing a caring work environment for all employees, regardless of age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion, or belief.

When it comes to recruitment, we’re interested in your work experience, skills, and overall personality. Because diversity makes the workplace stronger and is necessary for Swan’s success, we are intensifying efforts to incorporate concrete actions to help us improve in this area.
