Job description

This position is remote-friendly.

🧚🏻 Our Data team

The Data team at Joko is turning mountains of data into actionable insights for all the teams! The Data team is part of our Operations department led by Quentin, our COO, and our mission is to empower the company to make informed decisions.

More specifically, the team’s responsibilities are:

  • Data for Business: We create top-notch reports and tools, making it easy for teams to dive into data and excel in their decision-making.

  • Help our stakeholders with the best data stack: We load and transform data, automate reports, and continuously improve our data stack. This allows teams to use valuable insights built on robust and scalable foundations.

  • Spread the data culture: At Joko, we have a strong engineering and tech culture across all teams, making it an ideal environment for our Data team to have a significant impact. We provide support and training on data tools to our stakeholders, and by closely collaborating with them, we ensure that our solutions align perfectly with their operational needs.

🎯 What You Will Do

You will be the key partner of the Finance team when it comes to computing, analyzing, and automating financial documents.

  • Continuous improvement and refreshing of our financial files: On a monthly basis, you will help the Finance team update our P&L and cash statements.

  • Deep-dive analyses: You will conduct investigations and analyze data to uncover trends, patterns, and potential issues that will assist the Finance team in decision-making and improving models.

  • Automation and robustness of our financials: You will work on enriching our finance-related content in our data visualization tool. Our goal is to gradually make our P&L and forecasts available in this tool. The robustness of these improvements will be key to ensuring that our financial metrics are reliable.

  • Data loading and transformation: You will be involved in loading and transforming data as we have a “full stack” approach in Data at Joko. You will receive assistance with Data Engineering tasks, but you will be involved in the entire lifecycle of our data.

  • Accuracy and granularity of our forecast: You will work on the forecast of our P&L by developing predictive models for future planning. The accuracy and granularity of these models will be critical to bring our reporting to the next level.

  • Interactions with stakeholders: You will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders such as Joko’s CFO and our founders. You will also work with other teams such as B2B teams when it comes to revenue-related analyses.

  • Sharing and operationalization of financials: You will work on making the data accessible, generating targets for the team to pursue. You will also build frameworks based on data to assist the teams in their decision-making process (for instance, this includes using our data to identify and quantify opportunities related to revenue or cost).

Preferred experience

  • Experience: You have at least 3 years of professional experience, including one significant experience in data or in a position where modeling topics were central, such as banking, consulting, or FP&A.

  • Mindset: You have an entrepreneurial mindset. You enjoy challenges, welcome feedback, and strive to improve every day to achieve excellence.

  • Analytical skills: You possess strong analytical skills, which enable you to tackle complex problems, extract meaningful patterns from data, and make informed recommendations.

  • Stakeholder management: You are comfortable interacting with multiple stakeholders. You know how to present your conclusions clearly and concisely, both in written and oral form.

  • Project management: You are autonomous when it comes to project management, and you excel at breaking down complex topics into actionable items.

  • Attention to detail: You understand that the devil is in the details, and you always notice any issues.

  • Excel / Google Sheets knowledge: You are a rock star in Excel or Google Sheets.

  • Coding knowledge: You are proficient in SQL. Being familiar with Python is a plus.

  • Financial knowledge: If you have knowledge in Finance, it’s a plus. If that’s not the case, we’ll be able to train you!

  • Languages: You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
