What you will contribute to:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Development, Acoustic Engineering to lead the development and implementation of advanced acoustic development across our product portfolio. This role is critical in bridging acoustic innovation with engineering execution, ensuring that our products deliver exceptional sound performance and meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. 

Reporting to the Director of Development, Loudspeaker Systems, you will manage a team of 6 Acoustic Engineers & Specialists and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive the development of cutting-edge audio systems. Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership: 

  • Define and execute the acoustical engineering development strategy in alignment with the company’s goals. 

  • Participate with R&D Directors on developing a clear roadmap for loudspeaker system development, including key milestones, deliverables, and resource planning. 

Technical Expertise: 

  • Provide expert guidance on transducer design, enclosure & filtering architecture, sound propagation, and system integration. 

  • Lead the design, simulation, prototyping, and validation of acoustic components and systems. 

  • Ensure engineering solutions meet performance, manufacturability, and compliance standards across all product lines. 

  • Evaluate and implement advanced tools, methodologies, and materials to enhance acoustic performance and efficiency. 

Team Management: 

  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of Acoustics Engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, technical rigor, and collaboration. 

  • Oversee recruitment, training, and career development to build long-term team capability. 

Collaboration: 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Technology and Research teams to ensure seamless integration of advanced acoustic technologies into product architecture. 

  • Partner with Product Management to translate user insights and market needs into clear, actionable technical specifications. 

  • Engage with industry team to validate manufacturability and ensure long-term reliability of acoustic components and systems. 

  • Work closely with Hardware Electronics teams on the development of next-generation amplifiers, with DSP teams to implement cutting-edge embedded algorithms, and with R&D Software teams—primarily Soundvision—to deliver acoustical data and drive innovative feature development. 

Cross-functional Leadership: 

  • Collaborate with leaders from other departments to ensure a holistic approach to research and development, fostering synergies between acoustics, software and electronics engineering within the organization. 

What you will need to be successful  

  • Master’s or PhD in Acoustics, Audio Engineering, or related field 

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in acoustics engineering and product development 

  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams 

  • Strong expertise in acoustic modeling, transducer design, and system integration 

  • Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills 

  • A passion for sound and a commitment to engineering excellence
