Job description
We’re looking for a driven Sales Manager to join the team behind our cloud security show at CloserStill Media. You’ll sell exhibition stands and sponsorship every day, follow the sales strategy set for the show, and play a real part in hitting and exceeding its targets
You’ll be someone who loves building relationships, isn’t put off by an objection, and wants to beat their own numbers. You’ll also support colleagues with the smooth running of the event whenever it’s needed
Manage your day-to-day sales, pipeline and the admin that goes with it
Deliver your individual sales targets across the event
Proactively deliver the show strategy across new and existing business, including exhibitor mix, stand sales, sponsorship inventory, yield and sponsorship revenue
Identify key new business clients and sales targets within your prospect universe
Listen to customer requirements and present in a way that makes the sale
Maintain and develop relationships with new and existing customers
Arrange meetings with new and potential customers where appropriate
Respond to incoming email and phone enquiries
Act as the contact between CloserStill Media and its existing and potential markets
Negotiate the terms of an agreement and close sales
Challenge objections to help the customer reach a buying decision
Create detailed written proposals and send them to clients promptly
Gather market and customer information
Visit and canvass at competitor and industry events, building a systematic understanding of competitors and monitoring them
Record your sales in line with the company’s sales process
Review your own sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets
Uphold the KPI of 90 minutes a day on the phone, which includes Teams and Zoom calls
Prepare for power hours with well-researched, targeted prospects, setting agreed times with your manager
Attend team meetings, and share best practice on identifying new business with colleagues and line management, learning from them in return
Attend sales and personal development training, and use what you learn in your sales pitch and other responsibilities
Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested
Execute the Event Director’s and team’s strategy and objectives set out in the event’s business plan
Meet customers, prospects and event partners face to face regularly, where appropriate
Get close to your market, understand its trends and build your sales pitch around them
Monitor market and competitor activity
Read all relevant industry titles
Build positive, professional relationships with existing and prospective clients, associations, sleepers and, where appropriate, contractors, media and commercial partners
Preferred experience
Confident on the phone, with the drive to open new business as well as grow existing accounts
Happy to meet customers face to face and to get out to industry and competitor events
A strong track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
A positive team player who shares best practice and supports colleagues when the event needs it
Curious about cloud security and technology, and keen to learn the market and what matters to buyers and vendors in it
Strong negotiation and closing skills, and the ability to write clear, persuasive proposals
Well organised, with good attention to detail when managing your pipeline and sales records
Confident managing your own pipeline and a busy portfolio of new and existing accounts
Proven experience in sales, ideally selling exhibition stands, sponsorship, media or similar in a B2B environment
