You are passionate about environmental conservation issues (biodiversity, climate, oceans, forests, endangered species, agricultural and food systems…) and you have developed a solid expertise on these subjects? You have significant experience in managing large teams and designing and implementing high impact projects to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment? You are able to communicate in both French and English? WWF France is looking for a Conservation Director, reporting to the CEO and member of the Foundation’s senior management team

As the Conservation Director, you will:

  • Steer the strategic direction of the Conservation Department, based on your scientific expertise, your global vision of environmental issues and your result-oriented approach,
  • Coordinate and manage WWF France programs in France (domestic and overseas) and internationally, including the financial and human resources allocated to them, with a strong focus on quality and impact;
  • Develop the project portfolio, including large-scale, innovative and high-impact projects aligned with strategic planning, and mobilize Public Sector Partnerships (PSP) resources to fund them;
  • Maintain and develop quality partnerships, including within WWF International network, in order to act concretely in favor of nature conservation on the ground;
  • Manage and supervise the Conservation team (around 50 staff based in Paris, Marseille, Nouméa and Cayenne) and promote a culture of collaboration internally, by taking into account the interests of other departments;
  • Represent WWF France, to promote our scientific and technical expertise, with partners and the media;
  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO and the SMT concerning the conservation Department and the general strategy of WWF France.

Requisitos

With a degree of higher education, you have more than 10 years of professional experience in nature conservation, a strong experience in management, ideally on an Executive-level position. You are looking for a position where you can contribute your skills and engagement to the effort to stop environmental degradation, and to build a future where people live in harmony with nature.
The position requires a robust expertise of environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, leadership, project management, excellent communication skills, and an entrepreneurial approach to engaging donors, partners and corporate stakeholders.

Skills

  • Significant expertise on environmental issues (forests, endangered species, climate change, oceans, agriculture…), ability to promote WWF’s scientific expertise and positions to various audience, including the media
  • Strategic vision and result-oriented approach
  • Ability to champion and communicate WWF’s vision, in order to develop leadership and manage teams consistently with WWF values
  • Design and implementation of large-scale projects, including on the ground internationally, thorough experience in championing a culture of evaluation and continuous improvement
  • Ability to build, develop and maintain strong, innovative and international partnerships aimed at reaching the Foundation’s objectives
  • Resource mobilization, in particular institutional donors
  • Fluent in French and English
