About the role

Your role as a Consultant/Senior Consultant will see contribute to the delivery of projects across a range of clients, sectors and energy topics. Your day-to-day will vary depending on the scope and requirements of individual projects.

Typically, you will work on:

• Literature reviews and desktop research

• Quantitative and qualitative analysis

• Technology cost-benefit analysis and feasibility studies

• Stakeholder engagement and workshop organisation

• Information synthesis, extracting key insights and developing recommendations

• Writing reports and developing summary presentations

• Attending and actively participating in client meetings related to projects you are working on

• Supporting the business development efforts of the company and writing proposals

Example projects:

• National Bioenergy Roadmap – similarly to the National Hydrogen Strategy, the roadmap has developed short and medium-term actions and demonstrates Australia’s competitive bioenergy markets to grow the sector.

• Microgrids market study and go-to-market strategy – support to identify the most attractive countries in Asia for C&I microgrids, assess the market opportunity, and develop the go-to-market strategy for the new venture between an international technology supplier and global investment fund. 

• Non-network solutions evaluation tool – a framework for evaluating and optimising non-network solutions, with a cost benefit analysis of non-network solutions against network augmentation projects to identify capital deferring opportunities for a distribution network service provider.

• Australian DER market study and go-to-market strategy – analysis of the Australian DER market and its likely evolution in the future, and identification of opportunities for new positionings in Australia’s future distributed smart grid. Ongoing support with go-to-market strategy within the distributed energy space.

• Energy storage techno-economic analysis – technical and economic performance analysis of innovative energy storage technology, market segmentation analysis and hardware recommendations.

• Biogas market study – market opportunity study for bioenergy and biogas in Australia, technical and economic modelling, definition of innovative bioenergy projects, and go-to-market strategy for a large Australian energy company.

• Familiarity with Australian energy sector policy, regulation and commercial landscapes.

• Functional skills: good verbal and written communication, critical thinking, comparative analysis and synthesis capabilities, respect of time constraints, intellectual rigor, curiosity, open mindedness, empathy and team spirit.

• Technical skills: strong analytical skills, advance competency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.

• To be eligible to apply for this position, candidates must be either an Australian citizen/permanent resident or have ongoing working rights in Australia (mandatory)

• Fluency in English is mandatory.

• For Consultant roles

• Recent graduate with Bachelor or Masters degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, commerce, finance, public policy).

• 1-2 years consulting experience will be highly regarded.

• For Senior Consultant

• 2-3 years consulting experience or equivalent industry experience

Location: Sydney (preferably) or Melbourne

Salary: Depending on experience, commencing at $70,000 + super + bonus per annum for consultants and $100,000 + super + bonus for senior consultants

Work type: Full Time, starting ASAP
