Descripción del puesto

DNA Script

DNA Script is a leading company in manufacturing de novo synthetic nucleic acids using enzymatic DNA synthesis (EDS) technology. The company aims at accelerating innovation in life science and technology through the decentralization of rapid, on demand and high-quality DNA synthesis. DNA Script's approach leverages nature's billions of years of evolution in synthesizing DNA to set a new standard for customizing nucleic acid synthesis thus accelerating discovery in genetics, genomics, and synthetic biology. Discovery disciplines with profound impacts upon humanity such as biopharma, translational genetics and even molecular information storage all start with synthetic DNA. The company has recently initiated the commercialization of its first EDS powered platform, the SYNTAX system.

To date, DNA Script has raised over $315M of financing, with leading investors such as Coatue Management, Fidelity Management and Research, Catalio Capital Management, Casdin Capital, LSP, Bpifrance Large Ventures, Danaher, Illumina Ventures, Agilent, Merck Ventures, Sofinnova Partners, Kurma Partners, T Rowe Price, Baillie Gifford and Eurazeo.

DNA Script also partners on technology and product development with leading organizations such as DARPA, IARPA, Moderna Therapeutics, GE Research, Illumina, the Broad Institute, Harvard University, Institut Pasteur and the French Department of Defense.

DNA Script has its research and manufacturing facilities headquartered in Paris, France, and is in the process of expanding its commercial and development teams in Daly City.

Opportunity and Challenges :

We are looking to assemble a team of best-in-class, innovative and passionately eager people. We want to gather their talents and skills to achieve one goal: unlock the power of “DNA-write.” We offer the opportunity of joining a dynamic, international, and highly skilled team in a pioneering startup. Our DNA On Demand platform not only has the potential to change the way the world makes and uses synthetic DNA, but also to accelerate the rate of discovery by delivering upon the promise of same-day results.

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic company and to have a large impact on developing a technology that will have far-reaching impacts across biological sciences.

The Role

The candidate selected for this role will work in a new team within DNA Script’s Reagent Product Development organization responsible for transferring reagents, kits and consumables from R&D to Manufacturing (MO).

Main Responsibilities

  • Work in a cross-functional Product Development team on reagent technical transfer from R&D to Manufacturing by being the preferred intermediary for R&D and MO.
  • Develop, conduct and analyze experiments: Enzymatic DNA synthesis (EDS) on Hamilton, Prototype and/or SYNTAX, or any other experiment. Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) skills are not required.
  • Engage in good laboratory/documentation practices, write or provide information needed to write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and enforce their correct use.
  • Author and/or reviewer of technical documents, such as technical reports, Artworks, Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR), Validation reports, or changes to existing documentation or processes.
  • Present experiment results to the PDR team or other departments if required.
  • Actively contribute to the achievement of the company's critical objectives and work outside of his/her area of expertise if necessary.

Detailed Activities

  • Learn and assimilate the production process from R&D teams, translate it into a Batch Manufacturing Record (BMR) documentation with adjustments to fit MO constraints. Train MO (production and logistics) to understand and apply the process described in the BMR.
  • Lead improvement/optimization projects with a strong focus on safety, quality, scalability, cost reduction. If the improvements need to be tested first, she/he will develop, conduct and analyze the experiments in the PDR lab, and then drive implementation to meet production goals. She/he will train MO again specifically for any change that may occur in the process.
  • Actively participate in the CAPA, Event, Change Control and associated troubleshooting experiments, by proposing and conducting experiments to determine root causes. She/he will be in charge of closing the associated CAPA once the root cause has been identified and the solution implemented.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Master's degree in biotechnology, bio-engineering or related fields
  • Experienced in Product Development, practical and agile mindset to collaborate closely with R&D, MO, QC and QA teams
  • Meticulous, well-organized, excellent team player
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think innovatively and troubleshoot complex and multi-disciplinary technical challenges.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize activities in a constantly changing, fast paced environment
  • Experience with statistics, statistical process control, statistical analysis software (e.g. Excel, JMP, Minitab)
  • Mandatory: Fluent French and English speaker

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • First experience in a biotechnology company and/or in a production/high-throughput environment with liquid handling robots and other common laboratory automation tools
  • Experience with product development processes and project management preferred
  • Ability to learn new technologies/processes quickly
  • Ability to integrate a broad range of scientific and engineering disciplines.
  • Proven track record in technology transfer from R&D to product development and manufacturing environments.

Miscellaneous
