Dailymotion is seeking a highly motivated, positive, energetic team player to serve as a Senior Legal Counsel. The Senior Legal Counsel will report to the Head of Legal and will directly manage three Junior Legal Counsels.

The position will provide a multitude of legal support, in particular with regards to the performance of the following primary missions :

• Contracts drafting and negotiation (in French and English) to be handled in close collaboration with the different operational teams of the company (located in Paris and abroad), in particular:
  • content partnership agreements to be concluded with media companies and for the use of the Dailymotion’s technologies for the hosting and distribution of video content
  • video player subscription contracts
  • advertising sales contracts (direct sales, programmatic sales including RTB, etc.)
  • technical contracts such as bandwidth deals, services agreements of any kind, software license agreements, etc.
  • production and influencer & actor contracts
  • NDAs
  • Collecting society agreements
  • Any other type of contract needed for the business
• Management of, review of the work of, and training of the Junior Legal Counsels located in Paris
• Letters & waivers drafting (cease and desist letters, domain infringement letters, assignment letters, termination letters, recording waivers, etc.)
• Registering and management of the trademarks and domain names portfolio, and monitoring and protecting our trademark portfolio
• Providing legal advice and training to the operational teams from the different departments and from the international subsidiaries
• Preparation of legal templates (in French and English) to be used by the Legal Team in the drafting of a large variety of contracts
• Reviewing and drafting of the online legal terms, including the Terms of Use of the Dailymotion Service
• Assistance in the management of litigations

The position may also assist on the following points handled by the Legal Team as needed:

• Monitoring of the compliance of the Dailymotion technologies and more generally of the company’s activities with the applicable laws (ex. Privacy laws, child protection laws, copyright laws, etc.)
• Assisting the Trust & Safety team with the handling of the content takedown notices and authorities’ requests in compliance with the hosting provide status of the company, and with other legal requests received from users

Required:

• Be fluent in both French and English (and capable of drafting and reviewing contracts in both languages)
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in-house in a media or internet company, or a law firm
• Have a law degree from an accredited law school, or equivalent
• Previous managerial experience
• Have strong organizational skills, be able to work independently and as a team player, have a strong interpretation of confidentiality, have excellent communication, analytical and decision-making skills, be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, have a positive attitude

Strongly Preferred:

• Specialization or certification in Business law, Information Technology, Legal Contract Review, Media Law, and/or Intellectual Property
• Previous international work experience
