ENTER THE GAME

As a Staff Software Engineer, and as part of the Offer Access Tribe in the Sportbook, you will be responsible for building the best possible experience for our players, by driving impactful changes, giving technical quality guidance to the squads and solving the most complex problems throughout the codebase.

At Betclic, technological performance is at the heart of everything we do:

  • In-house developed applications for full control over the value chain: real-time segmentation, player protection through awareness and rule integration, risk detection, and more.
  • User interfaces designed for an immersive player experience: highly secure, capable of handling massive traffic spikes, and integrating live-streamed sports events.
  • Tech teams organized into autonomous squads and tribes, each responsible for a specific functional and technical domain, enabling end-to-end project ownership: development, load testing, delivery, and production monitoring (monitoring, alerting).

    YOUR ROLE WITHIN BETCLIC

    The Staff Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for ensuring alignment and consistency across all squads within the Tribe. Reporting directly to the Tribe's Head of Engineering, they play a key role in delivering technical solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with the Tribe's long-term engineering strategy.

    This role is focused on solving cross-cutting technical challenges, fostering collaboration across teams, and enabling the delivery of high-quality, effective software at scale.

    Staff Engineers are expected to proactively identify and lead high-impact technical initiatives, while working closely with product teams and squads to transform complex, high-value ideas into robust and reliable solutions.

    In this role, your main missions will be:

  • Partner with Tribe leadership to align technical direction with strategic priorities and deliver business value.
  • Lead architecture reviews, building with the team simple solution to complex problems.
  • Lead cross-team technical and product initiatives, providing technical guidance to the product discovery, helping align solutions and streamline communication during the delivery.
  • Mentor and support engineers, helping them solve complex problems, improve technical skills, and grow professionally.
  • Identify high-impact technical or product challenges and proactively design and drive scalable solutions.
  • Monitor platform health and costs, to ensure that we provide 24/7 the best experience to our customer in a cost efficient manner.
  • Technical environment:

  • C# / .NET 8
  • Cloud-first: AWS / Terraform as Infrastructure as Code
  • Databases: MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis
  • Messaging: Kafka, SNS/SQS
  • APIs: gRPC & REST
  • Datadog: Logs, APM, Alerting, etc.
  • Ultra low latency / High availability / High data throughput

  • Proven ability to influence beyond teams boundaries, communicating with a diverse audience of stakeholders.
  • You're able to solve complex problems with simple, effective solutions. And to pass down this philosophy to your Tribe's engineers.
  • Performance optimization and security concerns are integral parts of your development approach.
  • Expertise of the C#/.Net ecosystem is highly appreciated, if not, expertise in a similar language like Java/Kotlin/Go can be discussed.
  • You are interested in AI solutions, especially in the GenAI area.
  • Fluency in english.

    We see Staff Engineers as equally strong in communication, critical thinking, and system design as they are in writing high-quality code.

    WHAT ARE THE RECRUITMENT STEPS?

    If your application is selected, Mathilde will contact you within a week for a 30-minute HR pre screening. You will then meet one of Betclic's Engineering Director. Next, you'll be asked to complete a technical test with one of our .NET experts followed by a system design test. We'll also invite you to take the AssessFirst test (personality, motivation, and reasoning). Finally, you'll have a final HR interview, where we'll review and discuss your AssessFirst results together.

    To ensure the best possible candidate experience, Betclic's recruitment process takes an average of 4 to 6 weeks.
