Our take
WHOOP develops wearable health-tracking devices designed to help athletes optimise their performance. Its technology continuously monitors recovery, sleep, and training hours to fine-tune both individual and team performance. Unlike competitors that primarily track exercise data, WHOOP's holistic approach includes metrics like heart rate variability, which can influence more effective and healthier exercise routines. By focusing on a subscription model that includes the cost of the physical device, WHOOP differentiates itself from competitors that charge a higher one-time fee for their products. This model provides ongoing value and encourages users to stay engaged with their health data. WHOOP's comprehensive monitoring of strain and recovery has given it a competitive edge, even as other brands like Fitbit have incorporated similar features. Beyond sports performance, WHOOP has conducted extensive research on predicting premature births, aiming to integrate these findings into their app. This commitment to broader health applications demonstrates WHOOP's dedication to advancing wearable health technology.
You'll be working on
- WHOOP is hiring a Senior Product Designer to shape the next generation of member experiences at the intersection of human performance and emerging technologies
- You will lead the end-to-end design of AI-powered experiences, translating complex data and intelligent systems into intuitive, trustworthy, and actionable products
- You’ll use strong product judgment to identify where AI can meaningfully improve the member experience and where it can’t, while partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Research to define how intelligent experiences behave, not just how they look
- Lead complex and ambiguous product problems end-to-end, from identifying and framing opportunities through interaction design, prototyping, validation, and launch
- Design intuitive AI-powered experiences that thoughtfully account for uncertainty, system feedback, user control, failure and recovery, member trust, accessibility, and privacy
- Translate complex data, AI-driven insights, and intelligent system behaviors into clear, approachable, and actionable member experiences, applying strong product judgment to determine when AI is and isn’t the right solution
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and rapid experimentation to uncover member needs, test assumptions, and inform design decisions
- Create and prototype information architectures, workflows, interaction patterns, and system behaviors at varying levels of fidelity, using Figma and AI-assisted tools to explore concepts and technical possibilities
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Research, and other cross-functional partners to make thoughtful tradeoffs, define measures of success, and deliver high-quality production experiences

- 5+ years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of shipped consumer-facing digital products
- High proficiency in Figma and experience collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Research, and other cross-functional partners to deliver meaningful product outcomes
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to clearly articulate user problems, design rationale, tradeoffs, and decisions to a range of stakeholders
- Experience designing AI-powered, personalized, intelligent, or similarly complex data-driven experiences, with an understanding of considerations such as uncertainty, trust, user agency, feedback, and failure
- Deep expertise in UX and interaction design, particularly for mobile experiences, with the ability to turn ambiguous and complex problems into intuitive products
- Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions
