The position

Job description

As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you will work across the full lifecycle of TiHive’s camera systems, from product development to production and deployment. You will contribute to the design and improvement of complex mechatronic assemblies, while also ensuring robust manufacturing, integration, testing, and operational readiness.

This is a hands-on, cross-functional role for someone who enjoys both engineering development and real-world execution.

Main responsibilities

Product development

  • Contribute to the design and development of TiHive’s camera and sensing systems, including mechanical, electromechanical, and system-level aspects

  • Define, develop, and improve assemblies, subsystems, and integration concepts for industrial-grade imaging products

  • Participate in design reviews and technical trade-offs with electronics, optics, software, data, and physics teams

  • Support product evolution with a focus on robustness, manufacturability, maintainability, and cost-efficiency

  • Help structure engineering documentation, specifications, and design validation processes

Production and industrialization

  • Support the transition from prototype to repeatable production

  • Contribute to assembly processes, work instructions, tooling, and production methods

  • Improve reliability, quality, and throughput of manufacturing and integration activities

  • Identify bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to improve industrial performance

  • Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors when needed

Testing and validation

  • Define and execute test plans for subsystems and full systems

  • Develop and improve validation benches, test procedures, and acceptance criteria

  • Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting on mechanical, electromechanical, and integrated systems

  • Analyze failures, propose corrective actions, and ensure engineering feedback loops into design and production

  • Contribute to verification, qualification, and reliability activities

Integration and deployment

  • Assemble, integrate, calibrate, and qualify camera systems

  • Support system bring-up and integration of hardware with software, optics, and data pipelines

  • Participate in installation, commissioning, or support activities when required

  • Help ensure product readiness for customer environments and industrial use cases

Preferred experience

  • Master’s degree or engineering degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Instrumentation, or related field

  • At least 5 years of experience in a relevant industrial environment

  • Strong hands-on experience in complex system development, assembly, testing, and integration

  • Experience working on industrial equipment, vision systems, sensors, robotics, special machines, or high-tech hardware products

  • Good understanding of mechanical design, electromechanical systems, and system integration constraints

  • Comfortable working close to hardware, in lab and production environments

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to move from analysis to execution

  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary startup environment with speed, ownership, and pragmatism

  • Fluent in English; French is a strong plus

Nice to have

  • Experience with camera systems, imaging systems, optics integration, or precision instruments

  • Experience in production ramp-up, industrialization, or new product introduction

  • Familiarity with test automation, instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition

  • Knowledge of CAD tools and mechanical design for manufacturing

  • Exposure to quality methods, root-cause analysis, and reliability engineering

  • Experience in deep tech, medtech, semiconductor, photonics, industrial vision, or similar environments

What we are looking for

  • A senior engineer who is both technically solid and operationally effective

  • Someone who enjoys building, testing, fixing, improving, and scaling real systems

  • A person able to bridge R&D, production, and field reality

  • A team player with a strong sense of ownership and a drive to make complex systems work reliably in practice
