🍿 About Staycation

For most people, hotels are places you only visit when you travel.

But we see something different.

Behind their doors, hotels hide some of the most extraordinary spaces cities have to offer: breathtaking rooftops with skyline views, world-class spas and pools, bars and restaurants led by visionary chefs, interiors that spark the imagination, and beds so perfect you never want to leave them.

Yet, most of these spaces remain invisible to the people who live just a few streets away.

Staycation was born from a simple belief: the most inspiring places in your city shouldn’t be reserved for tourists. They should be part of your everyday life, an alternative to a dinner-date at a restaurant, a spontaneous midweek escape, or a unique way to celebrate a special moment.

Our mission is to transform hotels into a new form of urban entertainment.

Places people turn to when they want to feel, connect or recharge. Whether it’s 24 hours, 48 hours, or just a few hours, we’re reinventing the way people experience the cities they call home.

Today, Staycation means:

  • 🌍 4 million users in France, Belgium and Switzerland (soon in the UK and Spain)

  • 🏨 2,000+ partner hotels among the best 4★, 5★ and iconic palaces

  • ⭐️ 9.3/10 average rating for our experiences

Joining Staycation means becoming part of a passionate, creative, and ambitious team on a quest to redefine what hospitality and city life can be.

✨ The role

As Staycation continues to grow, data has become a strategic asset powering decision-making, scalability, and future innovation across the company.

We’re now looking for our first Data Engineer to lay the foundations of a scalable, reliable, and future-proof data platform.

This is a key, structuring role: you’ll take ownership of our data infrastructure, support the analytics team, and enable Staycation’s next growth phase, including new market launches and AI-driven features.

You’ll report directly to Hélène, our Data Lead, and work closely with a Data Analyst, as well as Product and Engineering teams.

📍 Key responsibilities

🏗️ Scale and strengthen our data infrastructure

  • Lead the evolution of our data stack to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

  • Anticipate growth in data volume, complexity, and use cases, and design systems that scale accordingly.

  • Define and implement long-term technical standards for the data platform.

🔄 Design and maintain robust data pipelines

  • Build and maintain reliable data pipelines to ingest data from internal systems, APIs, and external tools.

  • Centralize and factorize pipelines within an orchestration tool, ensuring clear dependencies and monitoring.

  • Ensure pipelines are resilient, observable, and easy to maintain.

📊 Enable scalable analytics and data modeling

  • Support Data Analysts by improving dbt project structure, factorizing models, and strengthening transformation quality.

  • Ensure data models are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with analytics and business needs.

✅ Ensure data quality, reliability & observability

  • Implement data testing, monitoring, alerting, and freshness checks.

  • Own the reliability of data used by stakeholders, ensuring trust in dashboards and analyses.

  • Proactively identify and resolve data issues in production.

🤖 Bring ML & AI solutions into production

  • Deploy machine learning and AI solutions into production environments.

  • Ensure deployments are robust, scalable, and maintainable, delivering real business value beyond experimentation.

🤝 Collaborate and share knowledge

  • Work closely with Data Analysts and stakeholders to ensure the data stack empowers teams effectively.

  • Define and enforce data access and governance best practices.

  • Document pipelines, models, and workflows to support onboarding and long-term autonomy.

📌 Key results

In your first 3 months, you’ll be expected to:

  • Be fully onboarded on our data stack (Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, Metabase…).

  • Gain a deep understanding of Staycation’s business model, data flows, and current challenges.

  • Take ownership of at least one key data pipeline.

  • Improve reliability or observability of existing data processes.

  • Build strong working relationships with the Data Analysts and key stakeholders.

In your first 12 months, you’ll be expected to:

  • Be recognized as the go-to person for data infrastructure and reliability.

  • Have significantly improved the scalability and robustness of the data platform.

  • Have implemented strong data quality and monitoring standards across the stack.

  • Successfully supported analytics scalability and at least one ML/AI use case in production.

  • Played a key role in structuring documentation, standards, and best practices for the data team.

🌍 Location

This position is based in Paris, 20th district, with a hybrid work setup (up to 2 days remote per week).

🚀 Why join us?

  • Take ownership of a foundational data role with long-term impact.

  • Work on a modern data stack in a fast-growing, international tech company.

  • Be at the heart of Staycation’s growth, new market launches, and AI ambitions.

  • Join a collaborative team that values autonomy, pragmatism, and impact.

🎯 You’re the ideal candidate if you:

Must-haves

  • Have 3–5 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role, with real ownership over data infrastructure.

  • Are highly proficient in SQL and Python.

  • Have hands-on experience with modern data stacks (e.g. Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran…).

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and performance optimization.

  • Have experience deploying machine learning models to production.

  • Care deeply about data quality, reliability, and maintainability.

  • Are autonomous, structured, and comfortable making technical trade-offs.

  • Can communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Enjoy collaborating and building solid foundations for others to build upon.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a startup, scale-up, or marketplace environment.

  • Previous exposure to international or multi-market data challenges.

  • Curiosity about AI, ML, and emerging data technologies.

⚙️ Hiring process

  • Recruiter interview with Mathieu, our Talent Acquisition Manager (30-45 min)

  • Manager interview with Hélène, our Data Lead (60 min)

  • Live Technical interview with Hélène (60 min)

  • Final meetings with the Leadership team (60 min) and the Data team (30 min)
