Soda is one of a growing list of companies motivated by the idea that data is becoming its own software product. This highlights an increasing awareness of tech innovations that automate and analyse data as a developer tool. Whilst some companies focus on compliance and corporate transparency, Soda has a broader scope, giving individuals and developers alike the tools and the language to analyse, test, and validate data.

Founded in Brussels in 2018, Soda has two distinct products. Soda Cloud, a collaboration web application that helps companies achieve greater visibility in where their data flows, allowing the layman to easily read and check that metadata is channelling to the right place. And Soda SQL, which can be integrated into a diverse range of tech stacks to scan data, which will then be read by Soda Cloud.

These two tools combined make it easy for every level of a company to understand what is happening to their information. Soda was awarded €11.5M in 2021 and continues to expand its products and services, aiming for full data transparency and agency, both within the world of developers and without.
