Redgate Software makes ingeniously simple software that helps organizations put data at the heart of innovation, enabling them to accelerate value from their databases, data platform, and data estate.
Founded in 1999 in Cambridge, UK, Redgate has grown to serve over 200,000 organizations worldwide, from startups to 92% of the Fortune 100 companies. The company remains privately held with over 400 employees and annual revenue exceeding $100 million. Redgate pioneered the database DevOps movement and continues to lead in database lifecycle management, helping organizations bridge the gap between development speed and database reliability. With a strong presence in financial services, healthcare, retail, and technology sectors, Redgate has established itself as the trusted partner for organizations managing critical database infrastructure across SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud platforms.
Redgate’s flagship products address the complete database development lifecycle. SQL Toolbelt combines over a dozen tools for database development, deployment, and monitoring, enabling teams to version control databases alongside application code. Redgate Monitor provides real-time performance monitoring and alerting for SQL Server estates, helping DBAs proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact users. SQL Clone revolutionizes database provisioning by creating lightweight copies of databases in seconds rather than hours, accelerating development and testing cycles while reducing storage costs by up to 95%. Flyway, Redgate’s open-source database migration tool with over 10 million downloads, has become the industry standard for version-controlling database changes across all major platforms.
Redgate primarily serves enterprise IT organizations, software development teams, and database administrators working with mission-critical database systems. Their customers span industries including financial services, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and technology companies of all sizes—from agile startups needing rapid deployment capabilities to global enterprises managing thousands of database instances across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Redgate's internal systems, covering data, security, purchasing, licensing, identity, authentication and usage, keep the wider business and thousands of customers running smoothly. As the company scales and takes on new commercial offerings, the Shared Applications & Services group needs engineers who can help keep that platform healthy, resilient and ready for what's next. This role gives a mid-level engineer real ownership over meaningful features while building the deeper technical and architectural understanding needed to grow further.
Redgate brings together people who want to do their best work in an environment built on trust, accountability, and collaboration.
We build solutions that help data professionals securely manage the data and databases that their organisations depend on, a space that's only becoming more critical as systems scale, data regulations increase, and AI adoption accelerates.
By 2028, Redgate will operate as an expert-plus-agent company, domain experts amplified by AI, delivering customer value at a pace our peers can't match.
AI handles the heavy lifting. Our people control the judgement. Everyone at Redgate works with Claude, giving you access to the best AI tools from day one.
● You'll join a small, cross-functional team, made up of a Tech Lead, Lead Software Engineer, Product Owner and fellow engineers, alongside a Shared Applications & Services Manager and an architect who provide direction and support at the group level.
● There's a coaching function in place to help you get unblocked, and real scope to grow your technical and architectural understanding as you take on more.
● The team cares about craft, collaboration and quality, and values sustainable delivery: good ways of working and time to improve how you build, not just what you ship.
As a Software Engineer (Mid), you'll independently deliver significant features end-to-end across systems that the whole business relies on, seeking support as needed while continuing to build your knowledge of design principles, testing methods and Redgate's internal systems.

● Real scope to influence architectural decisions and deepen your understanding of how Redgate's platform is designed and operated
● Take ownership of production issues, from investigation through to resolution and prevention
● Exposure to a broad tech stack spanning C#/.NET, React, Azure, event-driven architecture and observability tooling
● A role structured around learning while delivering: broadening your technical skills and system knowledge while contributing real value from day one
● Solid experience with modern C#/.NET, SQL, source control and CI/CD pipelines, and confidence applying design principles and architectural patterns with an understanding of trade-offs in context
● A bias for simplicity and maintainability, backed by strong engineering practices including unit testing, code review, debugging and safe change management
● Awareness of distributed systems and operational risk, such as timeouts, retries, versioning and partial failures, and the judgement to apply this when changing shared or production systems
● Ability to investigate production and support issues using logs, telemetry, database queries and service-level diagnostics
● Strong communication skills, in person and in writing, particularly when explaining technical findings, risks or trade-offs to engineering and product partners
Salary range: Up to £55,000
