At Opal, we help people take back control of their time — and their attention.
Our community (we call them Gems) has already saved over 200 million hours of screen time. Now, we’re looking for a Lead Product Designer to guide our design strategy and craft experiences that help millions live more intentional, focused lives.
This is a rare opportunity to lead design at a fast-growing, mission-driven company — and to work on a product recognized by the Apple Design Awards 2025 as a finalist in the Social Impact category. Winners and finalists in this category improve lives in a meaningful way and shine a light on crucial issues — and we’re proud to be among them.
As our Lead Product Designer, you’ll own the end-to-end design process — from discovery to pixel-perfect execution.
You’ll shape the future of Opal’s product experience across platforms, leading design for our iOS app (where we’ve built a beloved experience), and playing a key role as we expand to Android and beyond. You’ll lead with curiosity, care, and clarity, designing tools that help people feel more present and in control.
Your responsibilities:
Lead user research — Run workshops, conduct interviews, and uncover meaningful insights about our Gems
Craft product vision — Define how design drives focus, engagement, and delight — now and into the future
Design iconic experiences — Create wireframes, flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI across iOS, Android, and Mac
Own execution — Collaborate closely with engineers to bring ideas to life with polish and precision
Shape the system — Evolve Opal’s design system for consistency, scale, and speed
Collaborate deeply — Partner with Ugo, Anton, and our cross-functional team to build what matters
6+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio in consumer apps
Deep user research skills — You know how to turn user insights into elegant, actionable solutions
Expertise in Figma and familiarity with tools like Webflow, Amplitude, and motion design (a plus)
Cross-platform experience — You’ve designed for iOS, Android, and desktop, or are eager to stretch across them
Monetization experience — You’ve designed for mobile and Mac revenue models before
Entrepreneurial mindset — You’re proactive, adaptive, and eager to solve complex problems
Strong design fundamentals — Outstanding visual design, UX thinking, and attention to detail
We’re building tools to help people thrive in a world full of distractions:
Top-30 productivity app in the US, with a 4.8/5 rating from over 60,000 reviews
Loved by our growing community of Gems, with momentum accelerating fast
Finalist in the 2025 Apple Design Awards — Social Impact category
Currently on iOS, and actively expanding to Android
Backed by founders of Pinterest, Snap, and Revolut
Mission-driven team with nearly $1M in revenue per employee
Quarterly in-person meetups to build, learn, and grow together
Competitive compensation + early equity in a fast-moving, high-impact startup
If you’re excited to design something meaningful — and be part of a thoughtful, fast-moving team — we’d love to meet you.
