Senior Data Governance & AI Transformation Manager - eXalt Belgium
Brussels (Hybrid) | Permanent Contract (no freelance) | Data Excellence | AI Act & Policy
The Position: Mastering Data as the Fuel of AI Trust
In the age of Generative AI, data governance is no longer just about quality, it is about accountability. If the data is biased, the AI is biased; if the data is unmapped, the AI is a black box.
At eXalt, we are looking for a Senior Data Governance & AI Transformation Manager. Your mission is to evolve traditional data governance into a proactive, AI-ready framework. You will be responsible for ensuring that the data consumed and generated by AI systems is governed, secure, and compliant with the EU AI Act. You will use AI as a tool to automate the governance of data at scale.
Your Mission: From Data Lineage to AI Trust
AI Data Strategy: Define and own the data governance policies specifically for AI training and RAG systems (provenance, consent, and auditability of datasets).
Strategic Arbitration: Evaluate AI use cases based on data readiness and risk. You have the authority to block a project if the underlying data quality or privacy posture does not meet regulatory standards.
Automated Governance (AI for Data): Implement AI-driven tools to automate data governance tasks:
Automated Data Labeling & Classification for large-scale AI datasets.
AI Watch Agents to monitor data usage registries and regulatory gap analysis.
RAG-based Compliance Bots to answer audits and internal queries on data lineage.
Agentic Boundaries: Define the data delegation rules, what data can an autonomous agent access, and what are the “hard limits” of its decision-making power.
Ownership of AI Policy: Lead the organization’s posture on Responsible AI. Validate registries of AI use cases before deployment and ensure a clear chain of responsibility for every model.
We're looking for
You are a Data Governance veteran who understands that the “Data-Information-Decision” chain is now being accelerated by AI.
The Essentials:
Experience: 7+ years in Data Governance, Master Data Management (MDM), or Data Quality, with a clear focus on high-impact transformation programs.
AI Data Literacy: Strong understanding of how data flows through AI architectures (Vector DBs, Embeddings, Fine-tuning). You know that “Garbage In, Garbage Out” is the ultimate risk in AI.
Regulatory & Ethics Expertise: Deep knowledge of GDPR and the EU AI Act. You can translate legal requirements into data architecture constraints.
Authority & Leadership: Ability to stand your ground against business pressure to ensure ethical and compliant data usage.
Tools & Frameworks: Proficiency with Data Governance tools (Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and Agile methodologies.
Languages: Trilingual environment – Proficiency in English and professional mastery of French or Dutch.
What We Value at eXalt
Data-Driven DNA: Join a community where “Data as an Asset” isn’t a buzzword but a core consulting principle.
The Power of 4 Tribunals: Collaborate with our specialized tribes: eXalt Value (Data/AI), Shield (Cybersecurity), and Tech (Infrastructure).
Growth & Autonomy: A flat hierarchy where your expertise in shaping the AI-Ready Data organization is recognized at the C-level.
How we hire
Introductory Call (15 min): Aligning on the future of Data & AI.
Expert Interview (45 min): Deep dive into your Data Governance background and your vision for AI compliance with a Digital Sales Manager.
Governance Panel (1h): A case-study driven discussion with a Senior Lead from our eXalt Value tribe.
Partner Appointment: Final discussion with a Co-founder on the strategic direction of our Governance practice.
