Job description

  • The Strategic Client Executive / Global Account Manager is responsible for owning the commercial success, growth, and long‑term platform expansion of one or more of Equinix’s most strategic global customers within a global account framework
  • This role operates in a highly complex, matrixed environment with sophisticated customers, advanced procurement organizations, legacy contracts, and multi‑year architectural and commercial dependencies
  • The Strategic Client Executive provides end‑to‑end commercial leadership across the account lifecycle—driving demand, shaping customer architecture decisions, protecting revenue, and ensuring a consistent, high‑quality global customer experience
  • The role serves as the single point of accountability for sustained, profitable growth, revenue protection, executive engagement, and disciplined execution, while leading a virtual, cross‑functional account team across regions and functions
  • Strategic Account Ownership & Growth
  • Own sustained, profitable growth for assigned strategic accounts, proactively shaping demand
  • Translate customer business priorities and technology direction into a documented multi‑year vision and growth roadmap, used as the internal operating plan
  • Balance long‑term platform positioning with near‑term business, exercising sound judgment on opportunity prioritization, pursuit, delay, or de‑commitment
  • Source and co‑create opportunities within the region in close alignment with global account leadership
  • Build a predictable run rate whilst developing large strategic initiatives
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management, forecast accuracy, and CRM rigor
  • Architecture & Platform Leadership
  • Lead future‑state infrastructure and platform discussions with customers, confirming Equinix as a long‑term digital infrastructure and interconnection partner,
  • Influence customer architecture decisions across colocation, interconnection, and built to suit data centers to drive durable platform expansion
  • Anchor commercial discussions in customer outcomes, business value, and long‑term architectural direction
  • Ensure interconnection is positioned as a strategic enabler in all relevant strategic account conversations
  • Revenue Protection, Renewals & Account Health
  • Own the full commercial lifecycle of the account, treating growth and retention with equal rigor
  • Anticipate any risk to revenue retention early and lead proactive, coordinated renewal strategies
  • Align closely with CRO partners including Customer Success, Sales, and Operational teams to protect long‑term account health and prevent churn
  • Lead timely contract negotiations and ensure alignment to RFS and billing milestones
  • Executive Engagement & Influence
  • Build and maintain purposeful, outcome‑driven senior relationships across customer organizations
  • Engage effectively across infrastructure, platform, network, application, procurement, and business leadership functions
  • Demonstrate executive presence and credibility with advanced technical and procurement stakeholders
  • Influence outcomes within complex, global buying processes and matrixed account structures without direct authority
  • Use executive engagement to advance multi‑year growth initiatives, platform expansion, and architectural evolution
  • Execution, Operating Rigor & Accountability (EDGE)
  • Run the account as a business with discipline, clarity, and accountability
  • Lead a virtual, cross‑functional account team with clear priorities, ownership, and delegation
  • Surface risks, delays, and strategic drift early with transparent communication
  • Take ownership of outcomes—wins, losses, delays, and trade‑offs—and course‑correct decisively
  • Operate within the required Equinix sales and execution methodologies

Preferred experience

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance long‑term strategy and near‑term execution
  • Proven experience managing large, complex strategic or global accounts in a matrixed environment is mandatory
  • Disciplined operator with strong forecasting, pipeline, and execution rigor
  • Experience within digital infrastructure, cloud, data centers, interconnection, or adjacent technology ecosystems preferred
