  • As a senior member of the team, you will help lead technical delivery, mentor developing engineers, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. With a strong pipeline of work secured through major water frameworks, including United Utilities and Yorkshire Water, you will play a key role in delivering projects ranging from feasibility studies and asset improvements through to major capital investment programmes

  • This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Engineer looking to apply their expertise across one of the UK’s largest and most diverse portfolios of water infrastructure projects
  • Whether your ambition is to strengthen your technical leadership, lead the delivery of major programmes, grow client relationships, or progress towards people leadership, AtkinsRéalis offers the scale, support, and opportunities to help you achieve your goals
  • When you join us, you’ll become part of a collaborative community of experts who challenge conventional thinking and push the boundaries of engineering excellence
  • The role offers broad project exposure, technical development, and clear opportunities for progression within a collaborative and growing team
  • Lead the delivery on mechanical engineering solutions for water resource projects through all stages of the project lifecycle
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated, sustainable, and innovative engineering solutions
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and assurance to engineers and technicians, acting as a key point of contact within project teams while supporting the growth and development of the mechanical engineering capability through mentoring and coaching
  • Develop and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings, and design packages to ensure high-quality project delivery
  • Build strong relationships within project teams, clients, stakeholders and project partners
  • Contribute to innovation, continuous improvement and the adoption of new technologies
  • Help identify opportunities within the Practice to create additional value for clients and communities

Preferred experience

  • We’re interested in people who are technically strong, commercially aware and genuinely enjoy collaborative working. You will bring a willingness to learn, a proactive approach to problem solving, and the ability to work collaboratively within diverse project teams
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills, with a collaborative approach to problem solving
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Comprehensive experience in the design integration of a wide range of mechanical equipment, such as pumps, blowers, screens, and chemical dosing systems
  • Proven experience working within multidisciplinary project environments and leading technical delivery within the water sector or from a transferable industry background
  • A commitment to innovation, sustainability and technical excellence
  • Chartered or Incorporated status with IMechE or an equivalent institution OR extensive experience and the ability to become chartered within 12 months
