The Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer contributes to the development of innovative robotic medical technology (including surgical navigation) by designing, implementing, and executing test activities that support technology maturation.
At this stage, the role focuses on building and structuring the technical testing framework required to progressively derisk the technology. The V&V Engineer develops test means, executes experiments, analyzes results, and generates structured evidence to guide design decisions and prepare future formal verification and validation phases.
The position plays a key role in transforming prototypes into robust, testable, and scalable system elements while ensuring early alignment with regulatory and quality expectations.
As a key contributor to the System Team, your main responsibilities will include:
Technology Testing Strategy & Structuring
Define and progressively structure the testing strategy supporting technology maturation and technical risk reduction
Translate system concepts, prototypes, and engineering hypotheses into clear, testable evaluation objectives
Contribute to building a scalable V&V framework that can evolve toward formal design control phases
Ensure test activities are risk-based, prioritizing technical uncertainties and system performance drivers
Anticipate future regulatory and quality expectations without over-engineering at the current stage
Test Means Development & Experimental Execution
Design, develop, and maintain test benches, fixtures, measurement setups, and experimental tools adapted to robotic and surgical navigation systems
Define robust and reproducible test methods for hardware, software, and system-level evaluations
Execute hands-on verification and exploratory testing on prototypes and evolving system configurations
Analyze performance data (accuracy, repeatability, robustness, calibration, etc.)
Structure results into clear, decision-enabling technical reports
Identify deviations, characterize failure modes, and drive structured root cause analysis with engineering teams
Contribute to the progressive formalization of test protocols as the product matures
Risk Management & Traceability
Actively contribute to to technical risk identification and mitigation strategy
Maintain full traceability between requirements, risks, tests, and results
Structure documentation so that evidence generated today can be leveraged in future formal V&V and regulatory submissions
Cross-Functional Interface
Work closely with R&D (software, hardware, computer vision), clinical, and regulatory teams
Support preparation for design reviews and technical milestone reviews
Contribute to building a strong engineering culture centered on measurable performance
Process Discipline & Continuous Improvement
Apply V&V and design control principles pragmatically — focusing on technical robustness over bureaucracy for improving efficiency and repeatability of test activities
Promote a rigorous, execution-driven and evidence-based engineering mindset
We are looking for a responsible and collaborative team player, eager to continuously develop their skills and actively share knowledge to drive collective performance within the Ganymed Robotics project.
Engineering degree (software, computer vision, robotics, mechatronics, biomedical or related field)
4–7 years of experience in V&V within regulated medical device environments
Strong knowledge of design controls and standards (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304)
Hands-on experience writing, executing, and reporting verification and validation tests
Experience with robotic systems or computer vision-based surgical navigation systems
What we value:
Strong execution and ownership mindset
High level of autonomy in experimental environments
High attention to detail without losing system-level perspective
Clear, factual communicator (written & oral)
Pragmatic and solution-oriented, not checkbox-driven
Comfortable working with evolving designs and development iterations
