We are looking for a Backend Engineering Intern — AI Search & Traffic Analysis to join our Acquisition squad. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team focused on driving qualified traffic to Back Market through Performance Marketing, Technical SEO, and emerging AI channels, and you’ll help us build the foundations to understand and monitor this fast-changing landscape.
Develop a monitoring platform to track Back Market’s visibility in AI-driven search engines
Build the foundational monitoring infrastructure to understand AI bot crawling behavior and AI-originated traffic to backmarket.com
You will:
Track AI bot crawling behavior (e.g., ChatGPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, GoogleAI, etc.)
Measure AI-originated traffic through log analysis and referral attribution
Analyze user behavior patterns from AI referrals (conversion rates, engagement metrics, drop-off points)
Build dashboards and alerting to visualize AI traffic trends and detect anomalies over time
Cross-functional collaboration:
Work closely with SEO stakeholders to define requirements and success metrics
Join the Acquisition squad as a full-time team member within Engineering
Present findings and learnings to SEO stakeholders and the wider team
Mandatory!: Currently enrolled in your last year of an Engineering School with a backend specialization/ University Master's degree and your university can provide an internship agreement
You have knowledge of basic coding languages and ideally Python and have basic programming experience (github, personal or student projects).
You have knowledge of databases and operating systems, Linux is a plus.
You have the ability to learn new software and technologies quickly, being curious about the coding environment you’ll evolve in.
You are detail-oriented and have the desire and ability to work in a team in an international environment.
You are fluent in English - French is a plus.
You are looking for a 6 month, full-time role (35h/week), internship from March - August 2026, based in Bordeaux, France
You are authorized to work in France (EU Nationality or in possession of valid student visa/work permit).
