What’s the job? About the role As part of Kingfisher’s Engineering Centre in Krakow, we are expanding our teams dedicated to Castorama Polska - one of the country’s most recognized DIY retail brands. These teams will be shaping the future of retail by building and evolving Castorama’s mobile app, e-commerce platform, and the back-office systems that power store operations across Poland. If you join us, you will not just be writing code - you will be directly influencing how millions of customers shop, browse, and interact with their local Castorama stores. From launching a new generation of mobile apps to streamlining in-store tech, your work will have a real, visible impact in your own backyard.
Our Mobile development team is growing, and we’re seeking GraphQL and NodeJS Engineer who wish to further their career. As part of our team, you’ll be given the opportunity to drive and deliver exceptional work for all our banners like B&Q, Castorama, TradePoint etc.
Our mission? To craft a world-class mobile experience for our customers. We’re on the lookout for top talent to build NodeJS and GraphQL middleware for new iOS and Android native apps and potential to work further afield.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain back-end services using Node.js and GraphQL.
- Implement server-side logic to ensure solid performance and reliability.
- Develop and update schemas and resolvers for GraphQL APIs.
- Support the deployment, monitoring, and day-to-day operations of applications on AWS.
- Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and refine API requirements.
- Contribute to improving application performance and scalability.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and support code maintenance activities.
- Produce and update documentation for developed features and services.
What you’ll bring - Professional experience working with Node.js and GraphQL in a back-end development role.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience using Visual Studio Code.
- Hands-on exposure to AWS services.
- Good working knowledge of Git and containerisation tools such as Docker.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
- Familiarity with authentication and authorisation mechanisms (e.g., OAuth).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication abilities and comfort working within a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
