🎯 Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our engineering organization and partner closely with Product and CTO.
This person will be the direct manager of all developers, the DevOps, the Tech Lead, and the QA Lead (who manages 3 QAs).
The mission is to ensure strong people management, organizational processes, and delivery efficiency, while making collaboration between Product and Engineering smooth and effective.
The Engineering Manager plays a key role in bringing the technical vision owned by the CTO to life. This role requires a strong technical background to understand and challenge discussions, as well as a good amount of curiosity to exchange ideas on innovation topics.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
People & Team Management
Manage, coach, and support developers, the Tech Lead, and the QA Lead (indirect management of the QA team).
Lead recruitment and onboarding of tech team members, in collaboration with the current tech team.
Foster remote-first collaboration: build trust, engagement, and effective communication in a distributed international team.
Encourage knowledge-sharing, peer learning, and continuous improvement.
Contribute to a positive developer experience to ensure motivation and retention.
Provide clear career paths and regular feedback to all reports.
Delivery & Process
Ensure effective delivery of projects, balancing feature development with technical debt.
Define and continuously improve engineering processes (CI/CD, QA, testing, code reviews) together with Tech Lead, QA Lead and DevOps.
Establish and track engineering KPIs to monitor productivity and quality.
Cross-functional collaboration
Act as the main bridge between Product and Engineering, translating business needs into actionable engineering plans.
Translate technical constraints for non-technical stakeholders, and ensure smooth communication.
Work closely with the Tech Lead on the feasibility and scalability of solutions.
Team size: 7 developers (Ukraine), 1 DevOps, 1 Tech Lead, 1 QA Lead (+3 QAs).
🌍 Location & Work Setup
Based in Paris with flexible remote policy (up to 3 days/week). Presence on site min 2 days per week is mandatory.
International team fully remote (Ukraine and Europe).
Must-have
Proven experience as an Engineering Manager (or Tech Lead with strong management responsibilities), ideally with experience managing other leads.
Solid technical background: past hands-on experience in backend development (Ruby on Rails or Python), relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and Docker.
Experience managing distributed and remote engineering teams.
Fluent English (working language).
Excellent communication and expectation management skills, with both developers and non-technical stakeholders.
Genuine curiosity for technology and innovation, in particular AI/automation and its impact on development processes.
Nice to Have
Knowledge of Kubernetes.
Experience in frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Angular).
Experience in a fast-growing startup/scale-up environment.
French language skills.
