The team and its organization
Skillup’s Data team is part of the twenty-strong Tech and Product department and currently comprises 4 people (3 data engineers and 1 ML Engineer).
It is responsible for:
- the design and development of customer data pipelines
- data scrapping for the training catalog
- project optimization and performance, as well as the development of new use cases to enhance the value of available data
- integration with other tools (SaaS, partner tools, etc.)
- maintenance and continuous improvement of data infrastructure
The role
As a Data Tech Lead, you will report directly to Jérémie, our CTO, and help define and implement a global data vision and strategy in line with Skillup’s objectives. You will supervise and manage a team of 4 people.
As Team Lead, you will be responsible for driving and maintaining team momentum, leading them towards constantly evolving technical and product expertise, in line with the roadmap.

Missions
- Manage a data team of 4 people, supporting them on a daily basis in their development projects and ensuring their skills are upgraded
- Supervise the design, development and optimization of data pipelines
- Ensure data integrity, quality and security throughout projects
- Define data engineering best practices and implement them within the team
- Work closely with tech, product and business teams to understand their data needs, develop new use cases and deliver appropriate solutions.
- Ensure technical documentation, best practices and development standards within the team
- Collaborate with product teams to provide input, challenge and help establish a suitable roadmap.
- Contribute to improving team processes, culture and performance
- Help the team grow and participate in interviews during the recruitment process

Data engineering: Python, Scrapy, Pandas, Postgresql, MongoDB, Neo4j, Zyte, Airflow, Dash/ Plotly, S3
NLP/Machine Learning: scikit-learn, spaCy, pyTorch, fastText, XGBoost, transformers/BERT, GRU
Background and experiences:
You have at least 7 years’ experience in data engineering.
You are familiar with data architecture, data warehousing and data pipelines
You are an expert in common programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, and tools associated with data engineering.
You have a real appetite for data and a broad vision of data architectures.
You already have initial experience in team management and technical leadership.
