Following an internal job transfer, we are looking for a new Potato Technical Operations CE Manager for our Continental Europe plants. In the position of CE Technical Operations Potato Manager, you execute the CE Tech Ops strategy to drive and sustain manufacturing optimization (Safety, Quality, Cost), support Growth and Transform Operations to be future ready, while managing a team to develop technical expertise and leadership. As CE Technical Operations Potato Manager, you will chair the Potato team of Tech Ops and report to the Potato & Appetizer Technical Operations CE Director.

This position is based in Harnes, one of our French production plant located in the heart of the Nord Pas-de-Calais mining basin, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Established since 1981, the Harnes site is accessible by car, bicycle, or bus (nearest bus stop: Route de Lille).

 

Most important responsibilities:

Team Management & Technical Expertise Development:

• Lead and develop a high-performing technical operations team, drive a culture of continuous improvement in technical skills and operational efficiency.

• Deploy technical training document (with MDI) to develop manufacturing capabilities.

Execution of Strategy and Priorities:

• Implement and execute the strategic direction and ensure alignment of team goals, prioritize and oversee the execution of key projects.

• Implement new technologies and scale up to simplify plant in collaboration with global Tech Ops

Project Management:

• Manage the regional execution of technical projects in coordination with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D Innovation) according to the Tech Ops role and accountability.

• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to achieve successful outcomes.

Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement:

• Partner closely with all technical teams to define, track and address operational issues and needs with a positive impact on safety, product quality, cost, efficiency.

• Proactively identify solutions to improve manufacturing performance and costs without compromising quality and safety.

Best Practices Adherence:

• Ensure strict adherence and sustain standards for operational excellence.

• Provide guidance and ensure evaluation of McCain Operations Standards within plants.

Profile description:

Qualifications:

• You have at least 5 to 7 years of experience with preference of expertise in Manufacturing, Process technology, Process improvement. Other relevant experiences, such as Engineering, Maintenance, R&D, Data Analytics, Programming, and/or Packaging, are a plus.

• You have a data-driven decision-making mindset: collecting and analyzing relevant data to support process improvements and problem-solving. You understand which conversations are crucial to achieving set goals.

• You are attentive to people and adept at bringing out the best in them through your management skills. You know how to foster a positive working environment with an emphasis on open communication.

• You have critical technical and analytic skills: a strong technical aptitude in mechanical/electrical engineering and/or plant automation, and familiarity with processing line equipment. This enables you to articulate your vision through targeted actions with the team.

• You are able to work with cross-functional departments, collaborating and communicating with other stakeholders to achieve common goals, providing support, and contributing to informed decision-making across the organization.

• Autonomy, agility, accountability, and a strong sense of teamwork are important values for you.

• You think ahead and proactively plan necessary actions.

• You have business competencies, including project management and presentation skills (experience in lean manufacturing or Six Sigma is a plus).

• Excellent English skills (knowledge of French and Dutch is a plus).

• Ability to travel up to 40% within Continental Europe (potentially globally).
