As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in the ORIS organization, leveraging data and AI to create valuable insights and drive informed decision-making. You will collaborate with cross functional teams, suggesting, developing and deploying Artificial Intelligence driven solutions to improve our products and make a significant impact. You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment, embracing agile principles and utilizing the kanban framework.

This position is a permanent contract based in ORIS. Offices are located near the train station Part Dieu, in Lyon with a great team!

Main missions

Data Collection and preparation

• Gather data from various sources, such as databases, imagery systems, APIs, or web scraping.

• Clean and prepare data by handling missing values, outliers, and ensure data quality.

• Preprocess and transform data to ensure it is suitable for analysis and modeling.

Models development, validation and deployment

• Develop and train machine learning models of different types (computer vision, NLP, …) for various tasks (classification, regression, clustering, object detection, text generation, …)

• Establish adequate models’ performance metrics according to the task (MAE, Precision, Accuracy, IoU, etc)

• Validate and optimize the models for inference

• Deploy the models and make them accessible to production systems

• Build and maintain data pipelines to provide end to end IA based solutions.

Data Analysis

• Explore the datasets to understand its structure, apply statistical techniques, identify patterns and trends

• Analyze data to derive actionable insights to make better data-informed decisions.

• Address issues related to data quality, privacy, and security.

Strategic Guidance and continuous improvement

• Provide guidance based on data analysis, identifying opportunities for AI based solutions to improve our product and services

• Stay updated on the latest data science methodologies, tools and technologies.

• Share knowledge with the team and promote a culture of AI.

Expertise & Hard Skills

Required:

• Proficiency in Python, with experience with the following Python libraries : Numpy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Sklearn

• Understanding of data structures and algorithm complexity

• Good understanding of Statistical Learning, Probability theory & Linear Algebra

• Strong foundation in Deep Learning algorithms & concepts eg : Clustering, CNN, NLP, Time Series, Decision Trees, etc.

• Knowledge and expertise in Deep Learning frameworks and libraries such as : Pytorch, Lightning, XGBoost, etc

• Experience with training computer vision models : Semantic segmentation, object detection, classification, etc, and understanding of their architectures (Unet, YOLO, Resnet..)

• Strong knowledge of Git and comfortable in working with branches, merging code, and resolving conflicts.

• Knowledge or experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

• Knowledge of ETL pipelines, and data processing techniques (Encoding, Imputation, scaling, etc). 

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MLOps and Data-Management tools (ClearML, Mlflow, Weights and biases, tensorboard, etc)

• Experience with Docker / Docker-compose and Containerization

• Up to date with SOTA (State of the Art) architectures & research in the field

• Familiarity with database systems (relational and NoSQL) like PostgreSQL,

• Understanding of serverless architecture and microservices

• Familiarity with AWS and its core services

• Contribution to open source projects / Participation in hackathons or data challenges
