Your Mission
Making a good first impression is key when you meet someone new. At BlaBlaCar, this is the job of the Discover squad.
Whether it’s the home page or specialized landing pages, the mission of the squad is to gather all the trips available on BlaBlaCar (carpool, bus and soon trains), enrich them with useful information for the users and render these pages in the blink of an eye (think blazing fast response and web performance).
As a Junior Java Backend Engineer, your role will be to contribute to the platform we use to deliver scalable and reliable landing pages
You will be reporting to Charlotte, Engineering Manager, and working with a team of 3 frontend engineers, 3 backend engineers and one product manager.
Your responsibilities
Participate in the design, development and maintenance of our Java microservices that serve landing pages on the BlaBlaCar platformContribute in all phases of a project, meaning: discovery, development, test strategy, QA, deployment to production, without forgetting observability and supportCollaborate with product and design teams to find the most relevant features for our membersInteract with people with different roles and backgrounds, and sharing your technical expertise with a mix of technical, product and business expertsYour qualifications
You have a first experience in Java and its frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit and Mockito and in databases (MySQL and SQL)You know what service-oriented architecture looks like, and you can determine when to apply a given architectural patternYou have good communication skills, you’re humble, team player and motivated to learn.Ability to take ownership, aligned with business prioritiesFull working proficiency in EnglishFit with our BlaBlaPrinciplesNice to have: some knowledge or prior experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Datadog, agile practices
