The Tech Team

The tech team develops two main products: Hermes, to allow customers to order and track their transports, and Atlas, to allow Ovrsea to organize them.

Most of the effort is focused on Atlas: it is a revolutionary Transport Management System, which allows us to organize all types of transport worldwide. It is the backbone of OVRSEA, and the freight transport software of tomorrow. We use modern technologies (Serverless, Typescript, React).

The tech team has the chance to develop an “internal” product : this allows us to iterate much faster (25 deployments per day), to test many things and to have some freedom.

**What does it mean to be a Software Engineer at OVRSEA ?

To be a Software Engineer is to participate in the construction of a complex system, which allows goods to travel around the world!

We are looking for a Software Engineer to accelerate the tech development of OVRSEA in a context of hyper-growth 🚀

Software engineers at our company are organized in teams. Teams are built around major axes to allow them to work on a subject by appetence.

The main mission of Software Engineers is to participate in the design and delivery of features. They juggle between short term features (~3 weeks) and long term more exploratory projects. Finally, they participate in the collective effort to challenge the existing, for a better tech.

Here are the missions we offer you (non-exhaustive list) :

  • Deliver quality features, powered by state of the art code
  • Improve by being a leader in day-to-day problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Train by creating work standards and training the team on a regular basis
  • Supporting the more junior staff in their progression
  • Maintain a safe, efficient and pleasant work environment

Our current product topics :

  • Creating a meta language dedicated to the transportation world
  • Rethinking the platform to meet the needs of major accounts (ERP integration, tender follow-up, etc.)
  • Improvement of the reporting brick on the client side
  • Integration of automatic document reading thanks to Machine Learning (e.g. Textract)

Our current tech topics :

  • Challenge and rethink the organization of the frontend code (200k lines)
  • Increase the confidence of the team by improving our use of Jest, ESLint, Cypress or Storybook for example
  • Follow and maintain tools to improve the comfort of dev (webpack, hot reload, mocking, etc.)
  • Participate in improving the performance of the application to stay ultra fast
