At Mindsay, our mission is to enable companies to provide simple, efficient customer service at any time. We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager who will lead our product squad in creating the best bot building experience for our customers.

As Engineering Manager, your primary goal is build and manage a successful team. You should be great at time management and prioritization, anticipating future needs. We’re looking for an experienced manager, able to mentor junior engineers and guide and support experienced engineers in their career growth. You should be comfortable supporting and challenging your team, constantly sharing constructive feedback with empathy.

Time for you to learn to grow a team of your own? From the start, you’ll be managing two experienced developers. You’ll also need to be hands-on and manage the implementation of certain features on your own. With a lot on your plate, you’ll have to be strategic in deciding which subjects to tackle on your own or delegate to your team.

What will you be doing?

• Build a strong partnership with the product manager of your team, aligning business and product outcomes
• Build trust within your team and ensure a healthy collaborative environment
• Support your team in their daily work, conduct weekly 1-1s, provide feedback, define personal objectives, and help them grow their career
• Implement new processes and improve existing ones, share your learnings, and continuously improve our agile engineering culture with other managers
• Be the technical representative of your team for other departments
• Hire and onboard new engineers in your team
• Design, implement, and test new features

Preferred

• You have 3+ years of experience building web-based applications
• You have 1+ year(s) of experience in at least one of our stack technologies (Python, Ruby or Vue.js) or you already have a first experience as a software engineering team leader
• Product mindset: you’re passionate about delivering great features to customers
• You’re confident in your skills and capacities and demonstrate strong leadership behaviours, paving the way to your team
• You empower your team by building trust and ensuring psychological safety
• Attention to quality and detail: you don’t let important details slip through the cracks, but you also understand that software engineering is about making trade-offs, balancing business and technical needs

• Experience managing software engineers
• Experience as a software engineering team leader
• Experience with a Vue.js SPA app
• Experience in Ruby programming
• Experience in Python programming
• You’ve already worked in a startup environment
