About the role

With a recent fundraising of 80 million euros with Goldman Sachs and Eurazeo, Malt is strengthening its regional presence in Hauts-de-France. As part of the initial launch team, we are looking for a Sr. Community Builder to join the team.

Community is central to nearly everything we do at Malt. As the Sr Community builder, directly reporting to the Global Head of Community, you will develop concepts and growth strategies to bring together and grow the freelancer community in Hauts-de-France, ensure their success on Malt, while serving the voice of the freelancer to both local and global teams.

You will work closely with our local sales team in Lille, as well as with the community team at headquarters and other French regions.

As a Senior Community Builder

Community building - 50%

Build and execute strategies to grow the freelancer community, in particular the most sought-after skills on Malt. Understand how best to utilize existing methods, advocacy programs and content to attract and retain new talent members: 

  • Define and implement a strong tech / freelancer communities and influencers partnership network strategy to support our growth, using our partners user base / follower
  • Work hand in hands with the global community team to support the definition of Malt monthly community newsletters and blog posts in Hauts-de-France
  • Host community-centric events or provide the tools for members of the community to create their own events
  • Conduct onboarding calls to help top freelance talents get started and staffed
  • Proactively search for and recruit top freelance talent on other channels (e.g. LinkedIn or other job boards) 
  • Champion the needs and requirements of the freelancers community in Haut-de-France to the global product, marketing and operations teams
  • Sourcing - 50%

    Collaborate closely with the key accounts managers in Lille, supporting their freelancers sourcing requests for Corporate clients:

  • Find the best freelancers on Malt on other internal sourcing solutions to meet key account clients’ needs and be a strong recruitment partner for the clients due to your insights on the freelance market, the rate charged, skills and expectations of freelancers in the required jobs
  • Advise our top clients on writing strong briefings to attract the best freelancers
  • Conduct occasional qualification interviews with freelancers at the client’s request to select the most suited ones. You are an expert for the Malt algorithm and the associated best practices
  • Preferred experience

  • 4 years experience in sales, recruitment, community building and/or growth hacking 
  • Experiences in marketplace or startup/scale-up environments in a plus
  • Good knowledge of Lille economic environment and work experiences in this region
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work autonomously while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent sense of services, finding solutions to help freelancers succeed on Malt is part of your motivation pillars 
  • Natural networker and relationship builder (including over the phone/zoom)
  • Affinity for communicating via social media
  • Data-driven and results oriented, with a bias towards action
  • Comfortable with changing tasks and responsibilities as the situation requires
  • Able to travel quarterly to Paris 
  • Comfortable working in a hyper-growth environment 
  • Native fluency in French and professional fluency in English

  • Interview with Hélène, our Talent Acquisition Manager, to better understand your background, your expectations and answer your questions (45 minutes)
  • A first interview with team members to discuss your experience and the role in more detail (45-60 minutes)
  • A business case to put into situation and review with Camille, our Head of Freelace Community, and Marie, our Regional Director (45-60 minutes)
  • Final interview with a C-Level to discuss Malt's long term vision
