Itera is looking for a Senior Data Engineer who will join our Itera team to work for Norwegian customer, a leading technology company for media logistics in Northern Europe. The customer develops technologies and services for companies in need of technology for subscription services or logistics. Simply put, they take care of the entire value chain from order, to delivery into the hands of the consumer. They provide the industry standard for distribution of media products.
Team will be distributed and consists of highly dedicated and educated experts and specialists within system and application development, IT architecture, product innovation, business development and project management. The developer teams are dedicated to one or a few products and services. Scrum is used to optimize the product development, and have focus on DevOps, data science and learning new technologies.
Data Engineer (DE) will work closely with the researchers with focus on optimizing transport and logistics, and practical use of research results in the customer’s service offerings. Together with customer’s research partners customer is given funding from The Research Council of Norway (https://www.forskningsradet.no/en/) to develop technology in the years to come, which enables and improves tomorrow’s home delivery.
Resources with good knowledge of ML and AI, including advanced statistical methods. The developer will report to the tech manager in this team.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Build, maintain, design as well as optimize and tune data processing pipelines.
• Work together with machine learning engineers and data scientists on the deployment and monitoring of our machine learning models.
• Help define our development environment and communicate the best development practices within the organization (i.e. code reviews, testing, etc).
• Work with the product management team to find the best solutions to meet our customers’ needs.
• Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
• Enable teams and local sites across the organization to develop data-driven products and services through cross-team initiatives and collaboration.

Professional requirements:

• Minimum Master’s Degree with subjects such as computer science
• Developer/programming experience
• Good understanding of API and deployment of the applications
• Good knowledge of version control and git is a plus
• Experience with Python, R or similar in work setting
• Ability to build data pipelines in Python & Spark
• Experience with building data solutions in AWS (S3, Glue, Athena ,Redshift, Sagemaker)
• Good knowledge of various types of data sources (files, databases, streams) and data formats (CSV, Parquet, Avro, etc)
• Good understanding and experience solving complex problems and challenges
• Own research experience or relevant experience from research environments is an advantage
• Good English, oral and written
