The EU Prime and Marketing Tech Hub is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Date engineering and Business intelligence lead to support the growth of new products, experiences, services and capabilities led by the Prime & Marketing EU Central Product & Tech hub. The role presents an exciting opportunity to work with both technical and business teams to drive the data infrastructure and strategy of new products in the Prime & Marketing space, e.g., around payments for Prime, Prime Video Live Events or new internal marketing tools.
The ideal candidate is an expert with SQL, ETL, Tableau (or similar data visualization tools). They have an ability to proactively identify business needs and translate ambiguous business requirements into technical solutions. The candidate is a self-starter and team player and able to think big while paying careful attention to detail. They have excellent technical skills, analytical abilities, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
You will work closely with Product Managers, Tech teams (with Software Development and Quality Assurance Engineers), Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Analysts and Data Engineers across the Prime & Marketing organization.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This role offers you a unique opportunity to drive the data roadmap for the Prime & Marketing EU Central Product & Tech team, deliver projects with worldwide span and manage a business intelligence team. You will be part of a full tech hub, with product management, software development and data/BI engineering teams.
The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate are to:
Build scalable reporting solutions and self-serve tools that provide data/KPIs to inform business decision making.
Own the business intelligence strategic roadmap of the EU Prime & Marketing tech hub.
Own the design, development and maintenance of new data products, supporting the products built by the tech hub. These data products include building data foundations, measuring experiments and creating new business metrics to business performance and drive improvement.
Collaborate with business (product or marketing managers) and tech (software development engineers) stakeholders as a subject matter expert and leader of ongoing business intelligence support for the tech hub.
Collaborate with internal (e.g., global Prime BI) and external teams (e.g., Customer Payments, Prime Video) across Europe and US on projects with worldwide impact.
Manage, hire, and develop a team of business intelligence engineers, including building individuals' business and technical skills.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics or related quantitative field
5+ years of relevant professional experience in business intelligence, analytics, statistics, data engineering, data science or related field
Experience in data mining, SQL, ETL, and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
Hands-on experience of building complex business dashboards using one or more BI tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Amazon QuickSight)
Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs, but also with tech teams to translate between tech requirements to data.
Ability to work cross-functionally, building and maintaining trust with internal stakeholders
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Ability to translate technical aspects of analysis into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced Degree in Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics or related quantitative field or MBA with a concentration in Quantitative Analysis.
7+ years of relevant professional experience in business intelligence, analytics, statistics, data engineering, data science or related field
Experience in managing small teams, including hiring, coaching, and promoting individual contributors
Experience with statistical analysis
Experience in designing and building automated reporting solutions
Experience working with AWS big data technologies (Redshift, S3, EMR, Athena)
* Fluency in at least one advanced programming languages (e.g. Python, R, SAS)

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative field
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in analytics and business intelligence
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas simply, coherently and fluently both in writing and verbally
  • Evidence of influencing the strategic direction of a business unit through a combination of impactful, relevant analysis and clear communication
  • Ability to manage a large and varied operational workload and stakeholder expectations
  • Proven track record of using SQL to derive insights from large (billions of rows), complex databases
  • Track record of building either analytical OR reporting / visualization solutions using standard business intelligence tools: Tableau, PowerBI, QuickSight (Reporting); R, Python (Analysis).
  • Evidence of continuous learning and adapting to new technologies
