The EU Softlines org is looking for a smart, team-oriented, highly analytical leader to join the France Apparel team as Head of Vendor Management to help us achieve our goal of being earth’s most customer centric company.
We are seeking a Senior Manager with proven experience in strategy, execution, negotiations, innovation, and team development that thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment to lead a team of Vendor Managers. The candidate will establish strong relationships with key segment manufacturers and distributors, integrating them in our logistic and catalog systems, planning the selection of season collections and managing inventory levels. This leader plays a vital role in building and sustaining multi-year strategic relationships with our Selling Partners, driving growth and profit within their categories, advancing automation and process improvements, anticipating and responding to industry trends. Further responsibilities will be to coordinate marketing/Advertising activities and to drive projects to improve catalog quality and navigation and customer purchasing experience.
The role comprises leadership of a high performing team in vendor management, continuously improving Apparel customer experience, driving category profitability, develop & grow the category and expanding our partnerships with key brands as well as working closely with our category excellence, marketing and operations teams to deliver great results.
The best candidate will have a broad skill set including strong vendor management and negotiations skills, leadership development, analytical horsepower, excellent business judgment, deep curiosity about how things work, and a passion for creating a world class shopping experience for our customers. You must be willing to challenge the status quo in order to improve existing workflows and processes to enhance customer experience. This individual will work with Selling Partners of all sizes and represent Amazon in interactions at all levels of these organizations. Therefore, this individual must have excellent communication skills and be a strong influencer to drive joint progress on Selling Partner goals and Amazon priorities.
Experience in retail business, analytics, strategic thinking, negotiations and operations are required. You must be a self-starter and be able to execute at both a tactical and strategic level with a strong attention to detail. The Senior Manager will work in an International environment.
Job responsibilities
As the Head of Vendor Management, you will be responsible for:
Financial & Business Operations:
• Owning Retail P&L for category and focuses on strategy for scalable revenue and margin improvement
• Auditing team’s work periodically and directs team to perform deep-dive analysis on problems
• Representing Apparel category in executive level meetings both internally and externally
• Generating and implementing big ideas to drive business improvements, innovation, and scale within the category and across the Retail business.
Vendor Management & Negotiations:
• Representing team at top-to-top meetings with Selling Partners, driving strategic negotiations
• Partnering with the category leader to define negotiation strategies that support long-term relationships
• Acting as point of escalation when necessary
• Agreeing with vendors on promotions and marketing initiatives and coordinate with the Site Merchandising team to execute these activities
Customer Need & Industry Landscape:
• Creating and maintaining a strong customer obsession and innovation culture in the department
• Ensuring teams prioritize quality customer experiences through application of “working backwards” concepts
• Removing roadblocks and holds team accountable for correcting customer pain points
Strategic Planning:
• Setting goals and strategic direction for the business, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and vision
• Driving creation of cross-team best practices
Automation & Process Improvement:
• Leading cross functional collaboration on necessary systems and processes to support business needs, including retail systems, site merchandising and in-stock
• Coaching and empowering team to identify and drive automation and process improvement that scales to all retail categories
• Negotiating projects and agendas across a broad range of cross-functional teams and tech teams
Team Development:
• Hiring, developing and leading a team of Retail Vendor Managers, reinforces a culture that sets a high hiring bar and hiring for potential
• Cultivating a learning-oriented and collaborative culture
• Fostering a team culture that advances diversity, equity, and inclusion


Preferované skúsenosti

• University degree required; ideally in an analytical discipline, e.g. business or engineering
• Significant relevant experience (10+ years); ideally in vendor management / buying in an e-commerce, retail, key account management or consulting environment
• Near-native English language skills, including the ability to negotiate
• Analytical skill set including Excel skills; an aptitude for figures and data-driven argumentation
• Experience of managing and developing a high performing team
