Job description

What’s the role?

You will be in charge of leading the engineering team of Wazo which includes the scope of responsibility for software development & infrastructure management.. Your goal is to become both a technical leader and a coach to the development of the team and to help the engineering team achieve its ambitious targets.

You will report to our CTO, father of our technology and co-founder of the company, based in Québec, and become a central point of leadership for this rapidly growing team. As a key member of the senior management team, you will also work directly with leaders across the company.

What You’ll Do:

  • Strengthen Wazo engineering organization: you will have to build an organization with customer focus, world-class quality, effective communication, decisive, fast-moving solutions, quick and constructive resolutions of conflicts, and a “no barriers” mentality;

  • Set standards for deployments at scale, at a quick pace and with a high reliability;

  • Ensure that resources are allocated efficiently to deliver as provided by the Product roadmap defined by our Head of Product;

  • Set-up new strategies to grow the engineering team by managing external consultants or firms or selecting external solutions to accelerate our platform’s development;

  • Coach & train the engineering team by driving a high performing team and empowering developers to build better products;

  • Lead tough technical decisions every day.

Preferred experience

What You’ll Need to Succeed?

  • Proven experience with introducing/driving processes and best practices across entire engineering teams;
  • A prior experience in the Ucaas industry;
  • Solid knowledge of resource planning & prioritization;
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies;
  • Demonstrable experience with architectural design of complex systems;
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills to adapt to our highly collaborative environment;
  • A strong ‘product focus & mindset’ - you have a endless appetite to work with product teams, drive user impact and champion a customer-focus within the team.

What Experience and Skills are Required?

  • 5+ years of managing engineering teams;
  • Advanced skills in our technology stack
  • Strong communication, relationship building, presentation, customer service, listening and writing skills and ability to concisely explain tricky issues and complex solutions;
  • Excellent time management and prioritizing abilities;
  • Fluent in both English and French;
  • Experience in outsourcing projects to external providers;
  • Bachelor’s level degree in Computer Science or an engineering, mathematics, or another quantitative field.
