Role description:

🌍 Location: Preferably in Munich, but this role could be based anywhere within the DACH, Benelux & Nordic region depending on where you are located.

This position will support the implementation and monitoring of WAKAM’s regional strategy. The role requires a mix of business development and underwriting/Product competencies. You will report to Country Manager DACH, Benelux & Nordic and will be working directly with partners – insurance and non-insurance specialists.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support Country Manager DACH, Benelux & Nordic in the planning and execution of strategic business decisions and on regulatory duties.
  • Develop business opportunities for new and existing partners in accordance with internal processes and guidelines while keeping the focus on satisfying the partner’s needs.
  • Lead and manage partners’ relation in the region, ensure lead generation and deal settlement.
  • Develop specific cooperation models with partners, steer business development and account / portfolio management.
  • Gather data for portfolio performance, perform initial UW assessment and assumptions, derive indicative pricing when possible.
  • Prepare deals for the Business Approval Committee and release the offer to the partner.
  • Collect local product T&C and best practices and support product development as sparring partner.
  • Review products/propositions in line with product governance and fair value requirements.
  • Ensure local implementations in time and good quality.
  • Ensure local support for ad-hoc claim cases.
  • Communicate with the local authorities.

The Profile we are looking at

Experience & Key Skills

  • 7+ years working experience in underwriting P&C business, including oversight over multiple products, channels, and geographies.
  • Fluency in German and English language (verbal & written), additional core market languages are beneficial.
  • Proven experience in working with complex wordings, insurance law and regulation.
  • Very strong focus on business growth and technical expert excellence.
  • Solid understanding of P&C market dynamics - segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition, and distribution.
  • Strong network and good knowledge of the regional markets especially in Germany and within MGA / Broker sales channel.

  • Regular business travels required.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills, including networking.
  • Self-motivation and a proactive and committed working style.

  • Strong ability to influence (and getting things done) without having the authority.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
