NZ QSE Lead (Quality, Safety & Environment) – Freyssinet New Zealand

Location: Auckland-based with travel across New Zealand

Join a Global Leader in Civil & Remedial Engineering

Freyssinet New Zealand is seeking an experienced NZ QSE Lead to oversee quality, safety, and environmental (QSE) compliance across our projects. Based in Auckland, this role will primarily support North Island projects, with occasional travel across New Zealand.

As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and continuously improving QSE standards across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

         QSE Leadership & Compliance

  • Provide expert QSE support to project teams, ensuring compliance with New Zealand workplace health and safety legislation, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Lead incident investigations using structured methodologies and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support ISO accreditation processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

          Site Safety & Risk Management

  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to develop and implement safety improvement strategies.
  • Monitor environmental management processes, including waste management, erosion control, and sustainability initiatives.

         Training & Injury Management

  • Deliver WHS training sessions and toolbox talks to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Provide support for return-to-work coordination, ensuring compliance with rehabilitation and workers’ compensation processes.
  • Maintain accurate QSE records and reports, ensuring transparency and alignment with internal and external requirements.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum four to five years of experience in QSE roles within construction or infrastructure industries.
  • New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 4).
  • Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, regulatory compliance, and ISO accreditation.
  • Experience in injury management and leading incident investigations.
  • Full driver’s license (company vehicle provided).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence safety culture on-site.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for reporting and presentations.
