Your mission

As an Electronic Money Institution, Swan faces many legal and regulatory challenges when conducting its business and operations : Fighting money laundering, protecting clients’ funds, working with legitimate partners, etc.

Swan is looking for a Lead Risk to lead our risk team in Europe.

Your role as Lead Risk will be to protect Swan from fraud, credit, and money laundering risks. To do this, you will be responsible for building a cross-functional Risk Analyst team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing risk management strategies to safeguard the company’s financial assets, maintain regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of risk awareness.

✨ Main tasks

Build a world-class Risk team

  • Manage and lead your Risk team (second line of defense), providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching to team members.

  • Conduct training and awareness sessions for staff on Risk.

  • Drive people management initiatives, including hiring, performance reviews, ladder improvement, and employee retention.

  • Operational monitoring, including tracking performance indicators and live coordination.

Risk Management

  • Define the framework, processes, and policies to identify, assess, mitigate, monitor, and respond to risks related to existing and new products.

  • Conduct risk assessments of prospects for high-risk characteristics.

  • Monitor risks by analyzing end customer behavior and taking necessary actions (internal and external).

  • Evaluate and address risk-related incidents and take necessary actions.

  • Build necessary tools to ensure the scaling phase: dashboards, internal documentation (Notion), collections in the back office (Forest), new product features, new suppliers, etc.

  • Improve transaction monitoring and establish a global framework.

  • Analyze transaction monitoring feedback related to fraud and take necessary actions.

  • Be responsible for regulatory reports related to fraud risks.

  • Maintain operational efficiency while successfully leading long-term vision projects.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with various departments, including finance, legal, compliance, operations, product and tech, to integrate risk management into daily operations.

  • Addressing significant challenges related to scaling and optimizing current processes, workflows, and tools in collaboration with the product team.

  • Provide guidance and training to employees on risk awareness and mitigation strategies.

At Swan, you’ll have the opportunity to join our dynamic risk team, reporting to our Head of Risk. Our team, currently consisting of four members, is actively expanding.

The Risk team operates within a department alongside the Compliance & Legal, and Internal Control teams.

Profil recherché

You’re a great match if:

  • You have significant experience (+7/10 years) in risk or audit in a financial institution, ideally in a Fintech or another fast-paced work environment.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • You enjoy optimizing internal processes. This requires a proactive approach and the ability to think outside the box.

  • Proven success in building and executing strategies based on your deep knowledge of operations metrics and analytics

  • You are a ‘do-er’ and are not afraid to become very hands-on

  • You have strong analytical skills and an eye for detail, allowing you to quickly elaborate key findings and make decisions.

  • You have a sense of production priority and urgency.

  • You can effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders with excellent communication skills, especially when explaining our product, process, and business-related questions

  • You possess the mindset of a “problem solver,” maintaining a positive and can-do attitude towards challenges and obstacles.

  • Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail.

  • Fluency in English.
