🌟 Mission

The engineering manager’s mission is to ensure that the technical teams grow and are successful in their organization to make fast progress on our roadmap. They hire and manage software engineers (currently 4, growing to 7 in Q1 2021, and then up to 14 over 2021), and organize the technical teams so engineers become better and work well together. They build the team and bring it towards our team vision.

They push individuals to become better and teams to organize better, improving methodologies, processes and tools. They are responsible for the completion of the roadmap and the ressources allocated to it. Your job is 1/3 organization & processes, 1/3 hiring, 1/3 management.

🎯 Focus

  • Help people grow → Define objectives, do 1-1s with your software engineer reports and manage them so they make progress in their careers. Solve conflicts, review performance, and define engineer’s objectives.
  • Manage team resources → From hiring (or firing) external agencies, freelances, or software engineers, you hold the key of who is working on our product, so you make sure the team grows with members that fit our culture and our model.
  • Organize the teams→ You clarify, document, and change our processes and tools to make everything clear, and developers’ (and teams’) life easier.

  • Global velocity & roadmap completion (you’ll have your word into what goes in )
  • Engineers evolution
  • Engineers efficiency (engineers don’t spend time in useless meetings as we have an efficient organization)

Profil recherché

  • Patience and people skills, ability to solve people problems
  • Experience in helping engineers become better (coaching on engineering soft & hard skills - from agility to TDD, you know the skills software engineers must develop)
  • Communication skills, as you’ll be a member of our direction committee, you’ll work with a lot of different stakeholders and must be excellent at communicating.
  • Decision making: as you’ll be responsible for building the team, you’ll have to make important decisions that are in line with the company vision and strategy
  • Leadership, motivation & being constructive (leader by example)
