Let's talk about the Platform Team ⭐️ 

The Platform Engineering team's vision is to be the best last-mile delivery Software as a Service (SaaS) and our goal is to provide a reliable and scalable delivery platform for our clients and drivers. Interesting and meaningful, this project will really make a difference for our business. Together, we're building the world’s most advanced and scalable delivery management platform and crafting the future of logistics for a sustainable world: shared, efficient, and reliable 🚀 This role will have a huge impact in our amazing Platform Engineering team to help build a complex but stable real-time logistics system on Scala 🙌The role will report directly to Albert Vico. As Stuart grows the team grows which means there's lots of room for real career development! 💫 

This position is available to work remotely anywhere in Italy.

What will I be doing? 🤔

  • Dive deep into the core of real-time service and produce high-quality code that can help answer questions from business, operations and clients.
  • Provides clear technical leadership for the team, ensuring the overall architecture from mobile app through to server (and infrastructure) makes good technical sense and is fit for purpose. 
  • Work together with our data science team to implement optimal algorithms that would help the system to better solve the problem of assigning each package to the perfect driver according to several parameters in the minimum time possible.
  • Work with spatial information and build leverageable solutions that our Front-end team will use to create powerful visualizations of a city’s deliveries.
  • Plans and introduces changes as needed.
  • Mentors engineers championing best practices and high quality
  • Be part of architectural discussions related to the improvement of our platform.
  • We operate a flexible on-call policy within each service team with extensive training and no expectation to participate until each team member is fully integrated.
  • There is also the opportunity to take part in additional departmental efforts such as hiring, running community talks, defining team processes and other such ways to contribute to culture and growth on the team.

    • What do we need from you? 😎

  • Consolidated industry experience working with Scala or functional programming.
  • Experience with large-scale data/distributed systems critical for the business.
  • Functional programming experience, and a true passion for writing high-quality code.
  • Experience as a Technical lead.
  • Experience coaching less experienced engineers.
  • Experience with high quality software: well tested, well documented, well designed. 
  • Experience with different backend systems and architectures.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture particularly.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience working with Kafka or similar technologies.
  • Proficient with several programming languages.
  • Fluent in English (we do offer English classes to help non-native speakers improve their skills).

  • Infrastructure knowledge and experience with AWS.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes.
