At Smart, we’re on a mission to develop the next-generation technologies that empower our customers to reach their digital business goals. This means that we rely on massively scalable, widely distributed, highly available, and efficient software systems: the platform deals with over 30 billions auctions by day and the dataset is 10 petabytes in Hadoop.
Our innovation team based in Paris, Krakow and Nantes is composed by 90 straightforward and energetic individuals working in an Agile environment and ready to tackle the most complex technical challenges.

Your mission 👇

Site Reliability Engineers make our platforms highly available and robust both at infrastructure and application level. Reporting directly to our Lead SRE, you will join a team where millisecond matters and will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the evolution of our production platform and technologies (6 DataCenters, 900+ servers). This means that we rely on massively scalable, widely distributed, highly available, and efficient software systems: aiming >99,95% service availability. To reach that goal we collect every minute 5 Million metrics per production site.

What you’ll do ✏️

• Optimize and monitor software & network infrastructure across the globe.
• Leverage infra as code principles to automate provisioning (Ansible, Terraform) and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana) of our platform and middlewares (Hadoop, Kafka, Redis, Aerospike)
• Deliver self service and state of the art CI/CD tooling (based on GitLab) to deploy our 100+ micro services on both on premise, managed and multi cloud infrastructure
• Provide technical expertise on our container based hosting (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher) to improve the quality and performance of our architecture
• Highlight platform capacity and high availability with Key Performance Indicators

About you 💪

• Master degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study
• 3+ years of System or Software Engineering experience in a Linux and/or Windows environment ideally in the web industry
• Experience in the administration and smooth scaling of technologies that support high loads and offer a top quality of service in terms of performance and high-availability
• Interest in new technologies and large-scale technical stakesEntrepreneurial spirit and know-how to identify opportunities of improvement with ability to thrive under autonomy in a fast-paced environment
• Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English
• Side technical projects
