Your Team:

To prepare for the company’s upcoming acceleration, a new team named “Platform & Services” is being created to support our needs for transformation. This team will provide Engineering services (such as Hardware, VM, Database, LB, Queuing, Orchestrator, etc) to all product teams in order to help them focus on their true mission, i.e. bringing value to their products and to our customers.

As efficient startups use now PaaS solutions to create their products, our product teams will use our internal platform to build high-end products as well. The Platform team is organized into “Engineering Verticals”, each vertical delivering one or more infrastructure products in a specific field of Software Engineering.

Naturally, this team is also responsible for securing and guaranteeing the day-to-day execution of these services and keeping them up & running.

This team reports directly to the CTO.

Your Mission:

As the Vertical VM & Containers Engineering Manager, your main mission will be to design, implement, maintain and follow the run of our internal VM & Containers in a highly technical environment. You will be the relevant technical architect for your specific vertical within the company. In addition, you will directly manage a group of engineers and help them to coordinate and enhance their work and workflows.

Your key mission will be to create, deliver and maintain the software components that orchestrate hypervisors and VMs/containers across our global infrastructure.

You will also be responsible for communicating and promoting your product within the company. To make sure that your product adoption is complete within our technical team, you will manage (via a dotted line) an Engineer based in one of our Product teams. He/she will be your “Padawan”.

Your daily Missions:

• Embody the Engineering vertical and be responsible for it
• Hire, manage, support and develop a team of up to 7 engineers who will be in charge of building services that deliver the vertical products (career path, salary and compensation, personal knowledge and skills improvement)
• Gather and understand the technical needs of the Product teams
• Build innovative infrastructure products and services based on latest technologies.
• Represent the vertical expertise and engineering within the company
• Coordinate the team, check on-going project progression, organise the team’s backlog and sprints through rituals
• Ensure the team’s workload is balanced between technical debt management, rollouts and new projects. Estimate workload and project timelines.
• Ease collaboration with other engineering teams.
  Work closely with our local Architect to deploy infrastructure products within the product stack

About you

• As a natural technical leader, you are dedicated to your mission and demonstrate the following skills:
• 6+ years experience in software engineering building applications with significant usage and volume
• 4+ years experience building, leading, managing and mentoring high-performance engineering teams
