Your Team:

The Storage Team is a pillar team inside Scaleway. Not only this team develops the Scaleway Elements storage products (Block and Object storage), but also supports all the other Scaleway Elements products that rely on Storage (Instances, Database, Registry, Kubernetes and more) for proper usage. Not to mention our Dedibox Storage offers! As a consequence, working in this team means that you will work and interact with a lot of people !

This Team is scaling up as its products are getting more and more attractive, and thus we need to organize to respond to the growth. You will thus handle a development team.

Your Mission:

As the Engineering Manager for the Object Storage developper team, your mission will be to manage, coordinate and enhance the team’s work and workflows. In a highly technical environment, you will be in charge of making sure the team can and know what to focus on, in direct relation with the company strategy.

Your daily Missions :

• Organize, prioritize and maintain the team backlog
• Bring in new ideas and methodologies, make sure that the team uses the best in class tools
• Communicate the team’s results, achievements in the good and also the not so good days
• Make sure the team is focused and responds to the RP (3 month Release Planning) themes
• Make sure the team is motivated, has background information and thus can deliver its best
• Organize the mid and long term technical roadmap in collaboration with the Lead Dev, the VP and the Product Manager
• Handle human interaction and benefits of the team (frequent 1.1, yearly evaluation)
• Help the individual to grow, raise their potential
• Understand the team’s point of struggle
• Understand the platform enough to be able to challenge the developments when needed
• Centralize the information: act as a hub/shield and thus the main point of interaction when critical communication is needed

Your Profile :

• Experienced, and willing to mentor technical profiles
• Technical: you are not afraid of complex systems and environments
• Knowledge of development challenges
• As Scaleway’s, our stacks are mainly based on Go and Python, nevertheless, we do not expect you to contribute to the code, still a previous experience of development is a plus
• Managerial background
• Communication/Synthesis/Reporting: you are experienced with high level reporting, you do know which piece of information is important, you know how to make yourself understood.
• Cloud and/or Cloud infrastructures knowledge is not mandatory, still, it is a plus
