About the role
We are looking for a talented Engineer to join our Monitoring team.

The Monitoring team provides services to both Scaleway engineers teams as well as our clients to enable them to easily know the state of their services and products.
The team provides a wide-range of metering, logging and alerting services, based on open-source solutions.

As member of the Monitoring team, here are some examples of what you could be working on on any given day :

• Manage and scale the monitoring platform used by our engineering teams and users
• Collect terabytes of logs and millions of metrics
• Thinking with metrics, and relying on data to prove your point
• Writing Go code for an API
• Designing and implementing a system to improve log retention
• Create tools to create and manage hundreds of Prometheus instances
• Create custom metric exporters
• Build data pipelines for our engineering teams
• Automate all our deployments across multiple datacenters using Ansible
• Monitor the monitoring infrastructure and provide best practices to other teams to ensure the reliability of Scaleway products

Environment

• Multiples datacenters in Europe, ~150k physical servers
• Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Victoriametrics, fluentd…
• Go
• Docker, Kubernetes, Consul, Gitlab
• PostgreSQL
• Microservices, REST and gRPC APIs

About you

• You love working in a team, and know how to collaborate with people of various backgrounds
• You have experience writing production services in Go, or in at least 2 other languages
• You have worked with distributed services
• You have used monitoring services in production (eg. Prometheus, Cloudwatch, Datadog, Elastic, …)
• You already know, or want to learn the tools we work with (see below)
• You are self-motivated with strong organizational skills
• You are used to operating services in production
• You’re fluent in french and english
