Your Team:

Our team is in charge of the Scaleway IAM products and responsible for managing user accounts and permissions across all APIs in the cloud belonging to Scaleway Elements.

This wide-reaching project is core to Scaleway’s cloud ecosystem. Examples of what’s included are customer account management, fraud-fighting tools, and distributed permission management.

Some of these services were the first services on offer when Scaleway was created. We are currently working hard on several modernization projects (migration from REST to gRPC, micro-services, better observability).

Your Mission:

As a Backend Developer you will be responsible for:

• Developing new features on the micro-services owned by the team
• Writing simple, clean, coherent and well-tested code
• Takeing every opportunity to fight technical debt
• Designing new functionalities with the team Tech-Lead
• Carefully reviewing team pull requests
• Actively participating in all team agile rituals (daily, weekly, …)

• Code review is an essential part of the team. Every code base modification will be reviewed by peers
• We strongly believe in automated tests and the confidence they bring when pressing the “Deploy Prod” button
• DevOps good practices are part of the team DNA
• Pair-Programming is encouraged to enable knowledge sharing and make sure everyone is comfortable with every part of the codebase
• We are a tech team and as such, your manager will be developers
• When solving a problem, we value pragmatic solutions while clearly identifying possible future issues

Languages and Tools we use

Golang, Python, PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, gRPC, Protobuf, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Prometheus, Gitlab-CI, …

Your Profile:

• You have at least 2 years of experience in back-end development
• You know how write well tested code
• You can quickly learn a new language or tool and its best practices
• You have a good understanding of the HTTP protocol and REST APIs
• Git fluency
• You are fluent in SQL no matter how many JOIN are involved
• You are eager to learn new things every day

You get extra points if:

• You have experience with micro-service ecosystems
• You have already deployed a production application on a cloud platform
• Knowledge of gRPC and Protobuf
• You are fluent in Golang
• You are familiar with common DevOps tooling like Docker / CI-CD / Ansible / Terraform
• You have already worked on asynchronous workload (queue + worker)
